kayaking, time to upgrade again?

Am I wrong or is that a pretty good deal? Other than obvious scrapes or scuffs and UV deterioration, how do you know when a kayak is at the end of its life cycle?

My brother has the pedal drive the thing really hauls it is a pretty nice feature. I think its a Hobie but cant remember the specific model
