First WSF night ride of the season, Friday 10/7/11. Wheels out at 8:00 (or maybe 8:10), back before 10:00pm. Fun conversational no-drop pace.

The WSF staff allows JORBA members and WSF volunteer trail workers to meet after dark in the Batsto Visitor Center parking lot, near the trail head, for this ride. (Please do not park in this lot after hours w/o prior permission. You will be visited by the Park Police.)

If you are driving from Hammonton and Nesco, the CR542 Mullica River Bridge is closed. Allow yourself 15-20 extra minutes to follow the detour to Batsto. There's a quick and dirty detour map at http://wharton.jorba.org

Lights and helmet required. A fair amount of humor is recommended. 😀

This is a definite possibility :hmmm: 😀
It just won't be the same though since it won't be 25 degrees out there. lol
The detour also looks sketchy for us northern folk......could it be a trap?

I don't think it's a trap, but i can't make any promises😀.

Coming from north you can pretty much ignore the detour stuff. If you're coming down the parkway take exit 58/Tuckerton. There is a light at the off ramp where you will hang a left onto 539 towards Tuckerton. From Allentown take 539 south and then follow the same instructions once you make it to the parkway entrances/exits in Tuckerton.

-Cross the overpass and take the first right just past the off ramp from pw north (There is a sand lot on the corner at that turn, and if you make it into town you have gone too far.).

-Stay on this road until it essentially comes to a stop at stage road (The opposite side of stage continues as a gravel road.) You will see another pw overpass to the right. Hang the right onto stage, cross over the pw, and continue down stage.

-Continue straight until you reach a fork in the road (Note there will be 2 left turns before this that you will pass). For a landmark, there will be a red building and a sign for pilgrim lake campground to your right at the fork. Take the path to the left that has the newer pavement. If you accidentally take the right continue to the next intersection and take a left, and then i believe it is the next right down the road (There will be a small shop on the right just before the turn, and a hunting club just past it.)

-Continue straight. You should start to see Batsto signs that you can follow. Eventually you will start to reach barriers for the detour "except local traffic" (you will be said local traffic😛). I think the first i remember was just past the Green Bank Tavern which will be on the right. Popular with bikers so you'll likely see a few motorcycles before you see the sign.

-Keep going straight. You will pass a bend that borders right on the Mullica River, and then a significant straightaway, before coming to some open field. At this point you should see Batsto up on the right. Take the right just before the flagpoles, and then about 200-300ft down take the left into the park lot.

Sorry if that was a bit too detailed🙂. Anyway, i'd like to make it, but think i may have to wait until the next. Not sure i'll have lights and my rear derailleur sorted out by then.

yeah, moray42 is correct. If you're coming from New Gretna, the route down to Batsto remains the same.

If you're driving from Hammonton, Nesco, You're stuck with the detour.

If you're driving from Medford, Red Lion, and usually drive down 206 (then past the Ham'ton airport to Nesco) you might want to investigate driving down from cr563 instead of dealing with the detour.

Latest rumor is that the cr542 bridge will not be repaired until 2012. 🙁
