Is it a fad, a group or a club? It's OOS, the thread to rule them all!

Not a club, not a tour group, not a franchise, not a corporation, not a race team, not an LLC.... Keep it simple.
Keep the Strava group to post rides.

this, @Paul H lets wait to pull the plug on strava I'm going to remake the strava page and start inviting people at the end of the week. I'm going into my busy week, hoping this is one of the last times I have a busy week since my final interview is coming up

You guys are entertaining. Whatever you do (I haven't a say here), I hope you guys keep posting funny shit and keep the rides visible on here so I can join sometimes (I'll have my clash box set strapped to the bars for Paul to wittness).

hey how did you find us btw idk if I asked you that, you joined in the thick of it

So, I randomly found this forum when looking for info on riding in NJ. Then I found OOS because you turkeys post nonstop, so the thread was visible. When I read the first page and saw what OOS stood for, I was like "well fuck my nuts, that's a group for me". Then after folliwing the thread, learned of strava. Sorry, I know all this stress is from my joining. My bad my dudes. I broke Paul.

I think I’m confused a bit here by your stance though I guess your first post was a beer can. You seem to have been pushing the “fuck organization” agenda slightly on this thread but now seem sad there’s no organization.

Just to clarify, the S doesn’t stand for Sense does it?
Not exactly sure how to explain this... but let me share my thoughts with you and everyone else for that matter since this has been pretty much concluded and I am going to pat my own back a little bit so bare with me.
This whole set up.... the way it was running in the last year.... it was pretty much administered by me and the ideas for the new set up was my brain child. I have poured in a lot of thought and time into this. I was at almost every ride. I prolly have the best attendance record. I was that guy who made sure, no one lagged behind too much and got lost. I would be the last one who would want this to end but cant do it alone.... or won't. Outside of this particular thread, I have been asking the guys to share the load.... perhaps not directly. "Group Effort" I would say. But at the end of the day, no one really answered. Lots of talk.... but when it came down to putting a name to a duty... crickets. I tried again in the beginning of this discussion... asking who... who... who. I knew, or at least had a very good idea that no one or not enough ppl would step up the plate, long before this thread even started. I am not the type of person who forces anyone to do anything they don't want. Call me a wimp... Ill take that and maybe you can call this a mercy kill? Perhaps S does stand for sense. IDK

To be sorta serious for a moment, why not just keep on doing what you've been doing? Have one thread (somehow you guys splintered to 3 or 4?) to post rides and the endless banter. I find it entertaining and even get a chance to join you guys once in a blue moon.

Oh and keep the strava club - it's the only one I will ever lead on a weekly basis! ?

I usually don’t come in the OoS area but why would you have a group ride, with a specific sub forum, and then not allow anyone who wanted to, join in?

Also, @fidodie mentions that someone can’t coordinate another OoS ride on the same day. That seems like the perfect way to not grow the OoS movement.

Also, obviously there needs to be a locked ride thread that only the people coordinating can edit because every thread that OoS people starts seems to turn into a shit show. Just saying.

Off to a good start Max.

Was thinking about your comment yesterday how Leo joined us as it was posted on the Strava thread. Informal, just folks getting together and riding. Leo a few months ago could barely ride a few miles at Ringwood. Yesterday he did 2 full rides. My take on it is we are having fun and inspiring each other to ride. Regardless of what type of exercise someone chooses if they are having fun they are more likely to stick with it.

When I got back mountain biking a few years ago a friend directed me to the MTBNJ website and I have been hooked ever since.

Thanks to @Paul H for starting OOS and putting a sh_t ton of work into it. Has been a fun first 10 months. Look forward to continue riding and drinking with you (I er owe you a few beers).

Thanks @fidodie for your continued support to MTBNJ and OOS. Always enjoy your posts.

@Norm, I have no idea how you run this site and everything involved with it. In my opinion it’s a major contributor to the mountain biking community in NJ and parts of PA and lower NY.

Thanks to all of my existing OOS friends and look forward to meeting new folks and rides.

Now that I said my piece, let’s get back to the banter and rides. No fun being serious.
