Is it a fad, a group or a club? It's OOS, the thread to rule them all!

if there isn't a route to be defined, about 5 minutes. but there are always changes afterwards - this is where making the ride coordinator and
admin for their week might help - but then someone has to be the one that makes them the admin!

i like strava for the push notifications - i might not have noticed next friday at wildcat if not.

Noted, thanks.

I'm just trying to understand what there is to administer over, other than listing the ride, who's leading, and who's bringing cupcakes and beer. If we cant switch that off between a few of us throughout the year, we got more to worry about than being out of shape.

The only reason Strava was helpful was to keep track of the rides. And for that it worked. If we could just stop jamming up a ride only thread with meaningless BS, you wouldn't need Strava.
I am not crazy about digging through the thread and that's honestly why I haven't made much effort to join an OOS ride. However, I do think that's part of what makes the group popular at the same time. That being said - have a calendar thread with the rides, a go crazy/say whatever you want thread(s) for different topics...under their own OOS mtbnj category? I know this was mentioned earlier, so just revisiting it.

Are you saying all 50+ ppl on OOS strava are your friends?
You're my friend... Vic is... Brett is... etc (don't be offended if I don't name you... I'm using my phone here)) not all 50 on strava

That's my pt
I do see your point, maybe Strava is the problem.

We tried that became a second thread of insanity so got nixed but should be a valid way

Maybe access to the Strava club should be less open, say have a probationary period of time or a number of rides to actually attend before become formally a member. Also, if you ask to join and don't show up for a number of consecutive rides after asking to join you're out. Just like bikers, 1%, Let's get some patches...also, go get me a beer you prospect!

So it seems like a path forward would be to kill strava, post rides like before, but keep the rides post clean of BS, Or keep Strava to list the "offical" rides, and maybe close the group, send invites to those actually show up to a ride, to weed out the ones that join but never show.

since i'm the old man, i'm going to take a nap - keep chatting.
i see a major disconnect between "what needs to be done"
and "who is going to do it" - defining what needs to be done is the first thing that needs to be done.
who is going to do that? which i kinda what i'd thought we'd talk about tonight.
not necessarily final answers - but more of the issues and opinions. which we have gotten, but it is a parallel problem in a serial thread,
so hard to organize.

i'll probably wake up in a couple hours - hopefully you all get some sleep!
zwift nationals tomorrow you know 😉
