IGVENTURE

Nice bike. Are you still going to race singlespeed?

Thanks everybody.

I am going to race SS in the H2H series. Originally the plan was to race the new Tallboy in H2H, but I got it late...so I went with the SS. I've been putting a lot of time in on the SS, I like the feel of the bike(trek rig) and the simplicity of no gears. For years I stayed away from riding a SS at places like Mooch, Wayway and CR because I felt they were not SS friendly. Most of my gearless riding would be at places like Allaire, Hartshorne and Lewmo. Not having a geared bike forced me to confront places I would normally stay away from. The result turned out to be a positive experience. So the moral of the story is... when one bike breaks and you order a new Tallboy but don't get it until May a new door is open.

Last night was the first ride on the Tallboy and I loved the bike. At first the fit felt foreign to me. Its upright and I feel my weight over the front tire more. Its going to take some long rides to be really comfortable on it, however on my maiden voyage I felt the bike shine. I am really looking forward to racing the BS50 on the Tallboy.

You had a golden opportunity to use "fotomat" in a sentence and you failed.

I just got back from the Bearscat 50. This is one of the races I do every year to harden the F up. I guess I'm kinda drawn to this race since its probably one of the hardest mtb races in NJ, that and I think the trails in the race are really awesome, like something you would go back and do a lap of again.
I am not in endurance shape this year but was good enough to fake it and get 6th place. The pace was too hard for me to hang with the leaders, so I dialed it back and enjoyed the ride. Even taking it easy was still a lot of work and had some killer cramps at the end of lap 1 when I got off the bike at the pit to eat. Surprisingly I did not have any serious cramp issues for the rest of the race, and was able to enjoy the 2nd lap. My new full suspension bike was awesome, it really makes riding the tech easier and going down black eagle trail at the end of the race was a blast.
Thanks Jeff Stickle and the Black Bear crew for putting on one of the best races in NJ.

I think I'm Turning Japanese

On my way into work this morning I started thinking about what I did this weekend. In the process it hit me that I think I'm turning into a hippy. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, however if I buy a Toyota prius or become a vegetarian somebody better shoot me.

Did Yoga on the streets of Cranford Friday night, I'm the one with the penis on the right.

Went to Cooperstown NY Saturday night and saw the Avett Brothers perform at Ommegang Brewery. May have gotten high in the process.

Stopped off on the way home in New Paltz and had dinner at Main Course, which is a farm to table place. Really good food and reasonable price.

Mary finished teaching for the year yesterday so we did our paddle out to seagull poop house in Lavellette bay. That house smells like a zoo when you float by, its totally overrun by birds, the house looks abandoned. Not sure why someone built a house in the middle of the bay anyway with no access to house other then by boat.

Afterwards we pedalled down to Seaside Park and ate at Surf Taco, Tacos and bikinis go really well together. The beach was two blocks away so we rode our bikes up to the beach and took a walk along the water. There is something soothing about looking out at the ocean.
