How to unlock a Android phone?

Next off the Island.
Hypothetically speaking, if someone had an Android phone and they didn't have the passcode is there a way to unlock it?

Or should I just go to YouTube and there's a video on it?

probably have to do a hard reset and restore it, or start new.

yes, there is a video, and it is model specific.
 
Newer phones also get locked to an account - even if you reset it, you'll need the google account to bring it back to life.
or it needs to be dropped from the account.

Ok, thanks. My friend passed away and I was trying to get into the phone for them. I think I found a program to reset the code without losing the info.

if you have their google account, i think it can be reset through there. (i think - i avoid them)
