how much snow did you get

Too much snow to ride WSF today.

There is a quick thaw forecasted for this weekend which will turn the trails into a sand slurry. Please don't ride the singletrack until it drains. (Not that most would want to, that slurry is like a ginding compound that will quickly wear your drivetrain and brakes.)

I had a 'use or lose' day I had to take by the end of the year. I took tomorrow with the idea of spending the morning riding Wharton.....oh well.

Maybe look to the west for riding spots this week. (The storm dropped less snow out there.) Would be curious to hear about riding conditions at French Creek or Jim Thorpe.

how long does the singletrack take to drain? the snow is melting fast up north:hmmm:

Depends on how quick the frozen ground underneath the snow thaws out. Nothing drains when the sand is frozen. Its just turns into two inches of slurry on top of frozen ground.

not fun

No snow in the sunny spots, 1 to 3 inches of icy stuff in the shade. All of the pine saplings are bent into the trail. Most of the sand and gravel roads are an icy mess.
