how bout a group ride section?

Maybe like another calendar feature where we can post up rides to lead. With volunteer leaders of every park that schedules tours when available. It would be nice to have a section where people can ride new parks and meet new riding partners.

We have a forum for "Rides, Races and Events". Each park has it's own forum too. There is a calendar that is really only used by the people who are adding stuff to it.

All the tools are there. You just have to make something with them.

Ben is right, we do have all the tools in place. And he's also right about the calendar, nobody uses it. I do see the lack of information structure that you reference though. I can't think of any good way to address it aside from throwing another tool at it, such as a Group Rides forum. But then we'd be adding another tool that potentially nobody uses.

The way I see it is that we collectively lack organization. Aside from the Allaire rides in the summer, there is no cohesive/regular ride anywhere. We have a ton of traffic on the site, but no real organization. I used to do a Weekend Report thread which would outline Races, TM Sessions, and Group Rides. It also used to have trail conditions, which was a good way for people to feedback actively on the state of the trails. It was fairly well received but simply too much work to maintain.

If you can come up with a viable option, I'd be more than happy to entertain a way to make it happen. In the end, I think someone would need to take charge of it and promote the group rides.
