Home made Electrolyte drink

Been trying to eat healthier the last few years and started thinking about what I eat/drink while riding.

Found a recipe for a homemade sports drink that’s been pretty good.

Makes about 2 liters.

1L filtered water
1 teaspoon sea salt
4 Tablespoons Honey
Juice from 2 larger (or 4 small) limes
1L coconut water

I usually warm up the water in a kettle a bit then mix everything in a blender except the coconut water. Heating up the water helps dissolve the salt and honey faster.

Once the salt and honey have dissolved I pour in the coconut water.

Makes about 4 liters or 2 Nalgene bottles which I stick in the fridge for when I ride.

Too easy as they give you the mix formula
The hard part is getting the right amount of stevia which I add separate.

Stevia may be "natural", but it's ultra high processed of no nutritional value.
Check the side effects. It messes up my gut.
Cane sugar is healthier IMO. Need the carbs for the ride anyway.
Even better, Cluster Dextrin FTW.
Sounds like cluster dextrin is just as highly processed

The problem with "no calorie" sweeteners (other than upset stomachs etc...) is that it spikes your insulin without giving you any glucose. Not good.

When I uses sugar these days, which is rare, it's just plain honey. aka "bee puke."
