Hey everyone! My name is Doug, I live in Allentown, NJ. I'm originally from PA, but I've been living in Allentown for a little over 20 years now.
I'm not completely new to mountain biking. I did some road/mtb racing back in the late 80's, early 90's. Then, same old story, life got in the way... I finished school, got a job, got married, bought a house, had a bunch of kids, blah, blah, blah. Now (20 some years later) I'm overweight and out of shape. So, I decided to do something about it, and since the beginning of the year I've been able to lose about 30 lbs ("pounds", not bike shops). However, I'm embarrassed to admit that I can still lose another 60-70 lbs. Anyway, a few weeks ago I was trying to think of some good exercise to go along with my dieting, and then it hit me, BIKING! I honestly couldn't remember why I ever stopped biking. On a whim I did some quick research, and last weekend I bought a used bike off CL. The bike needs a little bit of work, but nothing I can't handle. I'm also now in the process of putting together the rest of the gear that I need (helmet, etc.).
I'm just CRAZY PSYCHED to get out riding. If you happen to see someone with a generator, a REALLY long extension cord, and a hairdryer trying to melt snow off the trails at Clayton Park... that would be me!
