Gore Jacket

I was out this morning and seems like my "windstopper" Gore jacket isn't doing much wind stopping anymore. I'm leaning it's lack of performance against an older Craft gilet with wind stopper which has been working great. The jacket has been washed as per direction and pack it away in a bin with other winter cycling stuff in a dry room. So, has anyone heard of this happening and is there a way to revitalize my jacket?

Thanks!

PS. Waiting for the MTBNJ generic fire response... Tick Tock

Try and washing it with one of the "sport" washes. I have good luck with Hex wash for normal washing and the NIKWAX Tech Wash and Waterproofing washes. They seem to revitalize the breath-ability.

I never really noticed any of the wind fabrics loosing the resistance to wind from both Gore, Castelli and Rapha. The windstopper product is a layer system with a membrane thing between two layers, maybe that layer has broken down?

Silnet/nikwax/etc.

The more "waterproof" the spray, the more it makes the jacket wind resistant. The trick is that if they actually waterproof the jacket, it doesn't breathe; i switched to PI's high level rain shell, and didn't bother to re-proof it. The fabric has a super-tight weave and blocks light rain fine.

I've had it happen to a gore softshell wind stopper jacket and other bike clothing, after a certain amount of washes and a couple years the fabric wears out like anything else.

Not what i want to hear but i can find union in that statement. I do want to get through the winter.

I bought mine from @stb222 and it used to be too hot over 25 degrees... i crashed on the road last winter and shredded it and broke some of the vent zippers and now i wear it above 25 degrees..

Speaking of, Which windstopper model is the one for 0 - 25 and which model is the one 25 - 35ish?

That was always really hard to figure out, as there is regular, lite and the fleecelined one and a description would just say "windstopper". Now they went to the super easy way to tell, with the 3, 5 and 7. LOL. Other brands use the system too, so makes it hard to know which one you are getting.
