Going Long and Hard.

Morning shot. I should've cleaned my stuff before swapping it over but I didn't. I need to shave the headset bearing cover a tad as it binds on the HT. I could throw a shim under it but I need the front to be a little lower than it is, hence the drop stem that has become my trademark 😱

Cranks will need to be purchased to rebuild my FatBoy so that's first on the list. After I condense my bike collection at least, this isn't the only frame I bought...

My All-City and Crux will be hitting the block if anyone is interested in helping my addiction.

I'm trying to get down to 5 bikes 😀

whoa, totally confused, what happened to steel is real made in usa?

bike looks sick doe

That has never applied to mountain bikes, remember I used to race a SuperFly and a Carbon FS bike? And in between I had a custom Ti Seven 😀

(2 of my bikes are still steel)

so, that's a ching chong frame? my mind is blown.

You guys are silly. Every bike other than my Seven and FatBack has been a China frame. Every carbon fat bike frame on the planet is a China Carbon frame, just with different stickers.

ahhhhh, maybe im thinking of someone else, i thought you swore off that carbon stuff

breaking news: chinese fat bike frames are now sold out world wide, china cannot keep up with demand

This is the first time I've seen bar ends since 1992. Are you really going to use those things or did you put them on because they're green?

I went back to using bar ends somewhere in 2012...I don't remember why, but at this point I almost only ride on the bar ends 😀

I've owned this exact set of bar ends since my second MTB, which was a custom built Univega Dual Action. Seen below with the 3rd MTB I've ever owned, a GT STS...OLDSKOOL!!

I wish I still had that green Ringle seatpost!!

ONTO THE NEW BIKE.

I was able to get into the woods last night and test out the new whip. Hot. Damn. I honestly don't have words for what it feels like. Just point it and it goes, stupid fast. It almost a dis-service to refer to it as a fat bike, at this point, it's as capable as any XC Race bike I've ever ridden.

The trails were in the worst shape I've ever seen so I did about 3/4 of the loop and then hit the road. I ran into some of our crew that started late and then my ride started to go south really fast. I crashed on some ice (on the road). Then one of our guys ripped his rear tire and wasn't carrying any gear (see post in other thread). We left him. To our defense, he was on a 29er and we are all on fat bikes so we actually couldn't help him...

Then Mark and I were drilling it back to the shop and I took myself out again. We were cutting through a deer path and my bar end got caught in a vine or something. Ripped the bike out from under me, I flipped off the bike and pile drove my head into the ground, then smacked my tailbone on something. I had to lay there for a little while before I could get up, I rang my bell pretty hard. I had to walk back to the shop because I couldn't sit on my bike. That's gonna sting for a few days at least...My butt hurts.

Mark drove back to get our buddy with no stuff, because he's nicer than I am (see other thread again)

Both of these followed the Zaskar/Avalanche you were on when we met at Hartshorne back in the Stone Age.

GT gave me a ZiZang after I broke 3 of those STSs. That bike was the stiffest thing I've ever owned!!
