Going Long and Hard.

I wax my entire wheel. I bought an old Hot Tub and set it up in my basement. Why limit yourself to a chain that won't rotate through the cogs or sit on the chainring at all when you can have an entire bike that doesn't spin?
I wax my whole body...wrong thread?

While seating on the sofa meditating about riding my fat bike on the snow I couldn't help but think about you heading to Alaska, which turned out being a major factor in staying on the sofa. I have the utmost admiration for what you do and I'm routing for you to have a great race/ride/experience...you are totally nuts!

I think it's nuts that people DON'T want to ride their bikes through the Alaskan Wilderness.

Frozen 3 will have Fat Bikes in it.

Here are the sisters, about to see their first fat bike

Mostly sure this will cover everything except drowning.

Base kit is Rapha Bibs, Pearl Sleeveless Base, Rapha SS Jersey, Aero socks, Surly Wool Socks, Mountain Hardware pants, something on my head, light FF Pearl Gloves (or no gloves)

Then I have 2 warmer leg layers, Smartwool Knickers and Pearl Thermal Tights. 1 warmer wool base layer.

Shells and tops are pretty basic. Outdoor Research Fleece, Pearl AmFib Jacket, I have a Nano Puff not in the picture.

1 heavier 5 finger glove.

And then I have the Big Agnes Puffy, RAB pants, and mittens for when the shit hits the fan. That whole kit is in my drive side pannier for easy access.

Rest of it lives in the frame bag as needed. I have my tools and tube outside the bike so the bag has lots of room. I also have a cargo net for the rear rack to stuff layers if it’s really warm. It’s supposed to be around 20 and in the negatives over night so I should be wearing half of this most times.

When does the bike get shipped out? And who you using this time? Gotta be stressful when you get there but your bike isn't. Good luck Jim and we'll all be here following the dots.

Whats going to stop the tip of your nose from freezing off

Debacle #1.

My Rohn Drop Bag was overweight by 2lbs so one of the volunteers just pulled 2lbs out of it and sent it on it's way. Good news is that I'll have stuff in Rohn, bad news is I don't know what she pulled so...Yay. Looks like I have pasta at least. I had nothing at all last time I went through Rohn because they supply Bratwurst and you know, vegetarian and all.

My Finger Lake Bag made it after the cut-off so I may not get it all all. Adrian is supposed to fly out today to set up the Checkpoint so he might be able to bring it along. Good news is Sean was able to go through it and get it down to weight so at least I know what's in there. And that's the Burrito Checkpoint so I can always snag food. I packed a second meal in there for Puntilla because dinner there is $100 and is meat.
