Going Long and Hard.

At first glance... that look’d to be the biggest burrito I’ve ever seen.😉
And I thought it was the Holy Shroud...

I don’t know Jim….this gravel thing is getting way too popular. How much longer can you ride this wave of former niche but now mainstream cycling ?

All I see on social media is unbound this, unbound that, gravel kings, at what PSI?, aero bars? no aero bars!,

OMG make it stop.

The 200 milers have too much extra time on their hands. I left the Expo after the 100th handlebar moustache, which was like 3 booths in 🤣🤣🤣

After Checkpoint #1.

Also, I just realized I was standing in line for packet pickup with John Stamsted. Hopefully I'll get to share some miles and pick that guy's brain a bit, being he invented Ultra Distance and Self-supported cycling. Much excite!!

Joe, I think he's the favorite in the SSXL field, has been driving the course over the past few days. This section is right towards the end at mile 319.

Based on these recon photos, I would imagine that 48c is better than 42c - especially if you are still 51 / 49%.

In Kansas, a little extra cushion for pushin' the pace may be the way to go!

Good Luck and have a blast!

Everyone but Lael is on 42s so I'm staying with them. I think there's a lot more of the roads I posted during my recon.

My body is in race mode. 4 hours sleep and I'm wide awake. The heat took out Jeff Kerkove too, he left the same spot and ended up coming right back.

I was in the lot at Checkpoint 2 with water, soda, food, etc and nothing would go down. I laid in the lot with Andrew Onermaa, who was leading the race earlier in the day. He tried to take a nap in the shade to let the heat die down but ultimately ended up in the same boat. Some random guy watching the race gave us both a ride back to Emporia. The fans out here are awesome.

The lead group never stopped at the 2nd checkpoint. I don't even understand how that's possible. JayP had 3 bottles for over 200 miles? That's if they stop at the next Checkpoint. Jesus fuckballs that's insane.

Hey, does anyone with coverage know where the leaders are? I suspect through Eskridge already.
At 9:22 EST, JP is at Mile 244.

Some Guy Taylor Lideen FROM ARIZONA seems to be the leader at mile 267. Not sure which class he's in. The Arizona guy must be used to the sun.

That's the XL race. I want to see Laurens and Thomas Dekker ride by me at 30mph.
