Going Long and Hard.

Except I'm getting fender mounts. No ghetto strap on BS for me. I want the real deal, spend too much time in crappy weather not to. They know when it needs to be here. Joe gave me his word I'll have the sickest bike at Battenkill. He's never let me down on any of our Seven builds so I trust him 100% Now I just have to fly out to California and break someone's kneecaps for keeping my deposit for a frame they never made:getsome:

I like the bottom with metallic and green.

So as not to engage in slander, tell me sometime at a race what company this was so that I never deal with them.

Indeed. I've now added a second company to my banned list. In the nearly 20 years working in the industry I've never had to deal with this kind of stuff. In the past year I've had several of the worst customer service interactions I've ever experienced. At least this second company isn't one we deal with through the shop so it won't affect much.

I didnt realize that was black. I support that! I have been looking at the Rapha bike that you posted up and that is droolicious.

and just for good measure...Sneez Jr!

and just for good measure...Sneez Jr!

Eat it!!

For serious though, I went through the Sneez's bikes yesterday, he's got 5 Sevens. 1 Axiom SL, 1 Axiom fixed gear, 2 Tsunamis, and 1 Sola SL29. I will now be tied with Joe Mundi who has 2 Tsunamis and an Axiom SL. Once I build my second Mudhoney I'll one-up Joe😀

Don't hate cuz you got a stable of stock asian-made dingleberries😉

Thursday

Hey, it's raining!! Blah. I lollygagged just a little bit as to not have to sit out there for 3 hours today. Took my longer commute route through Martinsville and such. The rain wasn't that bad because it was pretty warm this morning, ride home after work was somewhat brutal. A) all my clothes were wet from this morning, ewww. B) the wind was pretty wicked. C) there were already streams of water rushing on the sides of the road so I had to "take the lane" as to see the road. Wet. Sketchy. But fun😀

So yeah, Seven already sent me my bike design!! I'm not sure why I even bother dealing with anyone else, they're by far the best company we deal with.

Took the build sheet and gave it a once over. On paper it's exactly the same as my MudHoney with a slightly smaller seat-tube to match the lower front end. My XY's will be identical. I mocked the bike on the SizeCycle to actually sit on it just to make 100% sure the numbers are right. Of course they are!! Neil is awesome, why would they not be?

Signed off and sent the go!! GO GO GO!! I wouldn't be surprised if they cut the tubes last night. They're going above and beyond what they need to to make sure I have a bike in time.

I had my MudHoney exactly 7 days after I ordered it, they said it was the fastest turn-around they ever did. Granted that bike was a very simple build. That was almost the same situation though. I ordered a CX9 and after waiting almost 9 months 'cross season arrived and I had to scramble to get a bike lined up. Seven stepped it up big-time to deliver my bike and went WAY beyond anything a company would ever need to do!! The CX9 eventually came in after the season was over and I used it as a road bike, as some may recall. That seems to be the deal with how things work out for me as this pattern repeats itself over and over. I mean jesus, I just went through this a couple weeks ago with the whole TT bike thing. Had a Slice on order for over a year, pull the trigger on a P3 it's sitting in front of me in 7 days!! Lesson learned.

Jim,

For that price I might order one up for myself! 😀

Or is that the JimV only suggested retail?

Seriously? Of all cool things Jim posts in this thread. the freaking fit bike gets an ILL! label. :hmmm:

most of his shit is ill but the cool ass fit bike coupled with some self inflicted fitment issues makes it a standout at current 😀

Yes, the SizeCycle will do mountain bikes as well. I built my Sola on it before signing the design. I use it quite a bit to replicate things we don't actually stock in the shop, like mountain bikes😀

I think this is totally worthless being that it cost 3k plus for a Custom frame... Nah seriously though, I wish all shops doing custom frames had one... I look at it this way, you are someone who knows geometry and you still used it... Think about the folks who aren't as knowledgable

If someday I buy a seven (or any other custom frame) I will spend the day and drive to their shop to get a fit.

It's a cool tool for sure. It helps close any doubt a customer may have when pulling the trigger on some of these bikes we do. When you sell a custom bike more times than not you just put faith in the builder to get it right. I have 100% faith in a company like Seven to build me the bike I want, if you're really sure about what your needs are and explain it to them, the bike they build will be perfect. Like I said, it's on the customer side that the SizeCycle comes into it's own. You'd feel a ton better sitting on something before dropping $3,000 on a frame right?

And onward. No ride. Recovery day on the schedule. Speaking of schedule, I'm now on my own. No more coaching.

I'll add more later, gotta jump on the TT bike this morning:getsome:

Saturday

TT bike day. Not a TT workout, just a ride on the TT bike to dial in the position. The fit theoretically is good, but alas, my bum shoulder won't allow me to sit in a full tuck for very long. I slid the seat slightly forward to help with the stretch on my arm. Still need to possibly bring the bars up about 10mm. Blah!! I hate the TT bike because it's the only bike I own that reminds me that I'm still a gimp. Raising the bars up 10mm will put them in the same spot as the drops on my road fit, which is fine and dandy, just not as fast. Oh well, I'm gonna get my butt kicked anyway😀

First ride this year with the PT. I've gone pretty good sans technology so far. There really isn't too many spots around here I'm comfortable being in the aero tuck and drilling it. Traffic blows. So I wasn't able to get any useful info at all. Here. The OCD folk can translate.

Anything exciting? Hm. Not really. I sent my Bonty RXXXL rear wheel back to be assessed for a crash replacement and they just just me a new one. FREE!! That's kinda exciting. Chalk another one up for the fine folks at Trek for going above and beyond!!

This thing came in. I couldn't help but make fun of it. Seriously, Tri-folk have issues!!

The coach? That's right, I'm on my own. Doing my own thing. Living my own life. In control of my destiny. Etc, etc, etc...My motivation to do the structure I need just isn't there. I've returned to my roots, which got me all the way up to being a quasi-competitive Cat1 racer. I'm a shoot from the hip kinda guy...I don't even slightly possess the amount of OCD to make a training plan work. Read Norm's thread. You'll get the point. I want to ride my bike and enjoy myself, not have to spend 3 hours a day logging every millisecond of my ride into 1,000 columns of data across charts and then cross compare them with the alignment of the planets to make sure I peak in time to win (enter any race here). I don't count calories. I don't weigh myself. Let's see if it effects my performance in any way:popcorn:

Ok enough.
