Gas powered bikes?

Here's an update. Last pic of the bike looks like this:

But now the f'er won't start. Rebuilt the battery. Dude - battery acid is NO joke. Shit eats through everything. Filling a battery is not easy. I now have a very nicely etched garage floor.

The tank went on great, petcock doesn't leak. I always look at starting these things by satisfying three elements: air, fuel, and fire. I think I have no fire. Either the battery isn't holding enough or the plugs aren't working. Gonna try to get it rolling by the end of the long weekend. Figures it's pretty much done but just won't start.

no i didn't. no spark at all. i order new plugs in case the plugs are fouled. i'm going to replace the fuses next (not the easiest to find) and after i replace the fuses i'm going to check the actual wires. that's the cheap stuff. if it's not any of those things, it's either the rectifier or the condenser. and i really really really hope its not either of those.

i think i can find a 6v condenser online, but i don't know if i would trust it if its coming from an original bike. i know harley had some 6v so i may be able to find a 6v harley condensers aftermarket. i'll do the cheap stuff first. plugs and fuses will be in by mid-week.

So a quick update. Last night @michael.su and @rick81721 came over and we had a few beers and played with the bike. My neighbor swung by too and between him and Mike (and a couple beers), they figured out the bike is set up ok, it's just the battery wasn't good enough to get the switches to flip. So we connected my kids battery from his power wheels jeep and the bike lit up like a Christmas tree. All lights worked (even the blinkers) and the starter even moved. Even had spark!

So today I started charging the battery to get some more juice in it and in that process I broke one of the spark plugs. Joy. So I have a box on order and it should be here by next week. Since it looks like the electric is good and it also looks like I put everything back together correctly, I'm get it some new shoes and get the brakes to functional. I'm gonna do more cosmetic work in the meantime. I can't really do much until the mail comes so I started working on the rear fender which is beginning to shape up already. It started as the color shitbrittle-brown but the chrome is coming back nicely.

^^^ Baby Steps, I'm glad it is coming together^^^
Just be careful what kind of battery you connect to the bike. Give it too much juice (amps) and there could be a problem.
Good luck.
It took me 3 days to bleed rear brake on Ducati. All good now. 🙂
