Garmin Connect Alternative?

looks to be free, and in the couple of seconds i spent playing with it it looks nice

I haven't seen any other sites integrate HR, Cadence, Power other than Training Peaks.

here's my ride from today at tourne on strands

they say a droid app is in the works, looks like they need to add some topo maps to the interface coming into the heart of mtb season i really would like to have topo

see gamin is even advertising there so it is definately surpased connect. i like it shows additional routes in the area:popcorn:

They have topo (terrain) in the player part of it.

i am not an expert but it looks like the player has terrain not topo

here's the mother load os us topo, but most is 40-50 years old

i uploaded a boat load of stuff i had from garmin training center off of two computers, still have more stuff on the home desktop, the past 1 year everything is on connect

strands has a lot of stuff but i like the simplicity of the garmin calender where i can see MY Workouts, i have to check it out some more, it might be better for me from connect but i have to check it out further:popcorn:

strava.com

There was various ways to getr a free membership floating around the web when it launched, but I don't think there is anymore. Pretty solid site and the KOM section is pretty cool. Definitely better when more people in a give area utilize it though, which not many do around here. I think it is really big in new england, bay area, and australia from what I have seen.

I'm checking out strava - are these power numbers accurate? I'm checking out some rides near me and I see 80 mile rides with an average power of 115 watts. Seems pretty not-remotely-close to me. You use this?

I don't really "use" any of the online sites besides TP, other than for backup storage or occasionally sharing rides or finding rides. Here's the same ride on 3 sites. Strava uses the bare bones avg pwr reading. GC does some sort of calculation to arrive at a # between avg and norm power. All 3 end up with different average speeds, but strava and GC are usually close and TP is always way low. TP is also way off on elevation gain.

TP is also way off on elevation gain.

If you enable Elevation Correction on GC, you will find that it's probably closer to the elevation reported by TP (same thing with things like Bike Route Toaster when you plan out a route). My understanding is that when you enable Elevation Correction, it uses the topo data that is measured from satellite via laser or something. Supposedly, this is more accurate. Almost all the time, it will be much less than what the Garmin device records.

When the area gets more mountainous (i.e. Bear Mountain as an example), the corrected vs un-corrected numbers get closer, but the corrected # is still less.

Hi,
If you click on the 'profile' tab you will see 4 tabs in the upper right hand corner of the profile stream. The calendar tab will bring you to a calendar view where you can access all of your training and activity in a calendar format. If you have any questions, let me know. Best, Mike
