Garage Floor Coating ?

After 18 years of use, I need to repaint my cement garage floor. It currently has the remaining Epoxy which is heavily worn in some areas, and simply dirty in others. I'm thinking clean, acid wash and top-coat - but with what???

Any suggestions based on actual use?

Bare cement with a sealer, nothing else.

Epoxy sucks, it's slippery even with the grit they put on. Plus it will 'lift' from moisture under trying to escape.

those silly plastic tiles, HA! look great until a floor jack or stands crush them to bits.

Want pics of the shop floor that was recoated with epoxy 3 yrs ago? Oh and better get used to skating on ice.

I did plastic tiles. They are fine for me and I have jacked vehicles up on them. 3 ton jacks.

It's easy and relatively inexpensive with zero prep work. But yes, if you truly want a working garage it has its limitations.

Thanks for the input. The garage is attached to the house, so fire is not an option.

Typical use is 3-ton floor jack, jack stands, occasional metal wheeled engine hoist and/or sliding a trans/t-case out from under a vehicle. I need a durable coating, so I'll likely go with thicker epoxy.

Anyone have any experience with LINE-X ASPART-X floor coating? Looks promising - their truck bed liner is great stuff.

Another vote for epoxy - ours is only 1.5 years old so far but looks brand new. And not slippery at all, unless you spill a qt of oil and don't clean it up

I dare you to visit my work. Be sure bring elbow pads and a helmet, unless your good at skating. Horrible shit to walk on when it's wet or humid.

So your work floor epoxy = all epoxy coatings?
Yeah, thats my op. Even with the grit mixed in it's crazy slippery. So my conclusion is, it's all the same. It was professionally installed by a company that only does epoxy floors.

Tried an experiment - I dumped a bucket of water on mine and walked through it wearing sneakers. Didn't slip ar all. If I ran and slid i could do so a little but nothing like skating. My conclusion - your work epoxy guy blows.

When I did my floor it was slick, but generally not dangerous. The only time it scared me when when my boots were packed with snow, then is was slick as heck. After some traffic, a rear main seal, and trans mission swap, it was worn-in...
