cleaning up and found this shock. measures about 7.5x2.25 and think it came off a 120mm bike.

been sitting for like 5 years used but looks to be in good shape. not leaking and holds air. has 2 washers on it

tbh you can just have it if it fits your bike. last guy gave me beer so that works too

pickup in Bloomingdale

eye to eye fits but the travel is 4-5mm longer. idk enough about shocks to say but that's pretty darn close. you're welcome to try it
I'm not sure either... worth a shot though maybe? What's the worst that can happen?

If it travels too far and hits seat tube at bottom out I've been successful with a trick I learned on MTBR, 8MM plastic washers from home depot. You cut a diagonal slit in the washer and slip over shaft inside the aircan. Something like this but I can't find the exact one:

e2e is .5mm longer and travel is .8mm longer than specs, overshoot can be only .3mm tops. Should be fine, 1.6% travel increase dumpended a little by the longer e2e, will probably translate in 1mm at the axle.
