Really went down for a while today.

it went offline around midnight - I started working on it at 5am.
Looks like the kids found a new web crawler app and like mountain biking in nj
(they are outside the US.)

So I blocked a country - we'll see if that does it.

If you can get in on one of your devices, and not on another, let me know.

FYI It was blocked on both PC and phone browsers for most of the morning

Well this is interesting -
I contacted GoDaddy support to report a traffic related issue to get the site back.
"Let me look into it"

so a few minutes go by and I get

As for the Issue We’ve checked the server and found that the website was temporarily unavailable due to high resource usage on the hosting account.Specifically, a background process responsible for generating website statistics (AWStats) was consuming a significant amount of server resources. This caused the server to exceed its process and CPU limits, which led to the website becoming unresponsive.

This is a process we do not control and cannot turn off.

I'm going to put the site into "Must be logged in" to view mode.
See if that cuts the traffic.
We can go from there.

He did try to upsell me the Security package for $200/yr (min 5 yr contract) with CDN and GeoFencing.

Guy and Kill were in my plan, i'm going to add Hook.

This is the world of shared hosting.
Could just add cloudflare for $5/month.
That is only 1/3gal of marine fuel.
Will cloud flare block an aws service running behind the scenes? I assume the AWS thing is not hitting the front-end.
