Fishing Thread

Just a fun story… was on a pier in Surfside, SC last night around 1am fishing with my nephews. We weren’t getting much… couple little sand sharks. All of a sudden there is all this commotion at the end of the pier. Dude hung something big. He was at it long enough we sort of forgot about him. Maybe 20 min later his buddy runs down the pier asking everyone to pull their lines in so they can beach it. We all do and the kid works his way down, they send a friend down to the beach ready to grab whatever it is, right as he thinks he’s got it in this thing takes off like a screaming missile… the sound of the drag on his reel was pure adrenaline and I wasn’t even involved lol. Ended up taking all the line and ripping the spool off the reel…literally. We will never know. Awesome experience for my nephews to see though.

The view wasn’t too bad either..

Took the boat out on Oak Ridge reservoir Tuesday. I started late so the lot was full but got the boat in and found a spot to park the car. It’s trolling motor only so I just stuck to the shoreline and threw a few lures and this is what I got.

It was a beautiful day to be on the lake so I was happy just to check it out and it’s always good to catch something. 3 different species was a bonus. All on a Mepps spinner.

Been using Mepps spinners my whole life, when they were 99¢ at the tackle shop

Nice size pickerel! I hooked a monster on #6 line but forgot my net. The line snapped as I tried to reach in the water to grab it. 😭

That's the worst!

Yea this was probably my PB pickerel. 24" and it put up a pretty good fight. I know most aren't a fan but when they get bigger they are fun. This one stayed hooked just long enough to get it in the boat. That's ok by me.

Great morning in NY Bight.
Just off Sandy hook.

@w_b put out the call last night.

Chris hooked up

Also went out on the Miss Michelle Last week on a company sponsored trip. Sea Bass city. Fluke were there but only a few over the 18" mark.
