I just want to find out what everybody thinks of them. Do you have one, want one, would never buy one ect...
Please post any Pics if you ride a Fat Bike.

Fat City Cycles

I can say that most everyone who knew of Chris Chance has much respect for him...Retro types will tell you they are very sought after bicycles especially in good conditions

I think he was talking about something like this, but my Yo Eddy rocked.

Opps I never knew such a thing existed😱😱

Being that I in the know now I would say "NO" I would not buy one simply because it doesn't snow enough near me...Cool bike though

I think the Pugsley is a great bike and probably the cheapest costing fat bike (even though you really can't build one cheaply)... Vicious makes a really nice one, and there are a few others... Of course if money were no object I'd have Curt Inglis (Retrotec) build me one...

I'd really like to own a fat bike, but I'm seriously considering just adding a Pugs 100mm fork and Large Marge rim to my Karate Monkey for winter....

Do you ride any "normal" bikes anymore?

if i lived in alaska, i'd be all over one.
how about the conundrum, surly's unicycle that runs an endomorph!
if i was building one, i'd go with the vicious rims. 15 more mm of width :getsome:

vicious rims have been reported to have really inconsistent quality. the speedway rims are significantly better, and the choppersusa rims are fairly good from what i've heard. i definitely don't see the need for one anywhere in nj other than the shore. they make great sand bikes. if you spend time anywhere that has a significant snowmachin/mobile trail network, they will transform your winter riding.

I'm sure the discerning rider could find use for one, even in snow-less NJ conditions. I think Bighit (on this forum) has one, and rides Sourlands.

That said, I find 45mm rims and 2.6 tires have become my default. Not sure if I'm ready for a pug...

Oh sure... "Mr Alaska" talking... 500 inches of snow and nothing BUT Pugsleys and Fatbacks from November on... you winter elitists... why you make me..... jealous....

I'VE SEEN BIGHIT RIDING HIS AT SOURLAND, AND THAT'S WHERE I'D RIDE MINE!!! SO DON'T TELL ME PUGS BELONG AT THE JERSEY SHORE!!!!

...and just to prove to Gary that I'm "normal", I think I'll ride a Pugs during 24-o-Mooch next year... Float right over the mud and rock gardens.....

Peace,
BB

I didn't say "you" weren't normal. I just asked if you ride any "normal" bikes.

Doing this for as long as I have, I find all cyclists are nuts. They just really lose it after they turn 50.😉

just be aware that those $120 endomorphs are notoriously fragile. they're great on soft surfaces like snow and sand, but i'm not deep in the pocket enough to justify them on rocks like nj has. no offense to bighit, but he's pretty obviously and clearly into bikes on the fringe. if you want a pugsley for anything other than uniqueness on rocks, you would be much better served by a short travel full suspension, which do the same thing ten times better.

if you want big fat tires, some functionality, and something even more unigue than a fatbike, put 26 x 3" downhill tires on 46mm trials rims in either a 29" frame(gf and surly work) or a 26" frame with lots of clearance(i think the 1x1 works). you'll get more cush, absurd traction, off the charts durability, and plenty of float. i rode them for most of my last winter in nj, all of the spring, since they're great on soft trails, and continue to ride them up here for winter, where they're almost but not quite as good as endomorphs.

You're right, you didn't...sorry... In fact I don't claim to BE normal... I just get upset if I think other bikes on the playground are poking fun at my bike... My shrink says I can get over this if I want to...

Now you're talking... I was actually thinking of Sun Double-wide rims (45mm wide) with 2.7-3.0 tires (although where can you even find 3 inch tires)?? Would not 2.7s work just as well?

It would be nice to be able to run this on a conventional Surly KM without having to swap the fork... then throw on my 29er wheels when there's no snow... Gee, you're such a practical dude, Sean... (OK, I take back the quip about your being a "winter elitist"...)

Peace,

FWIW I thought this was about Fat Chance also.
Does that thing come with an option for a motor?

Thanks, Sean... BTW, there's no front brake on that Monkey!!! Don't tell me... a good pair of Sorrells as backup brakes on the snow??.... I'll check out those tires... they look BEASTLY!

Peace,
BB
