Directions Are My Thing
I was told by the trails specialist at Round Valley State Park that there are 3 trails that go from Round Valley State Park into the Cushetunk Mountain Nature Preserve County Park. Going clockwise, the first trail that enters the County Park is past the "Trail Closed January 1-August 1 sign." The Cushetunk Trail goes past the sign, and then descends toward the reservoir, and then you come to a huge climb back up to the top of the mountain, and at the top, the Cushetunk Trail turns west and heads toward the fence at the North Dam, but instead of going west, if you go straight at the top of the mountain, you'll enter the County Park. The second trail that goes into the County Park is about 5 feet before the Cushetunk Trail gets to the "Trail Closed" sign, and this trail breaks off to the right of the Cushetunk Trail and goes straight up the hill and into the County Park. According to the trail specialist at Round Valley, the third trail that enters the County Park is about 300 feet before the Cushetunk Trail reaches the "Trail Closed" sign, and from what I've been told, this third trail also breaks off to the right of the Cushetunk Trail and goes up the steep wall of the mountain in switchbacks and into the County Park. I did not know about this third trail entering the County Park until Maurice and the trail specialist at Round Valley told me.
Maurice, thank you very much for telling me about this third trail that enters the County Park. You have been a huge help!
