Dickerson Mine Preserve Conditions

Ooh and it's already on trailforks! Gotta go check this out sometime and figure how to work it into my normal route.

Good conditions today. Whole park is dry except for a soft spot by the TTF on yellow/King Mine and a couple of spots on Ferremonte. Baker Mine is fine.

Rode the yesterday and trail surface conditions were great. Green trail is really overgrown rn, both in the grassy areas and the shrub corridors. Don't know if y'all get ticks and chiggers up there but i was freaking out just trying to escape that trail! A bit bummed that i somehow missed the new Canfield trail.

Rode everything except green. Great conditions today. Checked out the new trail and it's decent. Pretty chill except that 20ft rock garden is probably the toughest in the park. Came across this double trunk on white, right about at the orange junction. Skipped it the first lap, but manned up on the 2nd:

Then there was this one on the doubletrack below Marty's that I wasn't messing with:

Forgot to ask the other day. Seems the beach is closed. Is it bc the water is unsafe or just can't find/pay lifeguards? Just wanna see if i'm gonna get the clap if I jump in after a ride.

They haven't been able to get lifeguards for a few years now and my guess is they just stopped trying. They don't want people swimming in the lake after the drownings that occurred in 2022. That being said, I paddle board in that lake and people go in the water all the time near the boat launch area. It's also the only area were the monster weeds don't attack you.

Got to say, I did that new trail and it's so much more enjoyable than climbing the fire road. Get there while there's still loam, it's not going to be there forever. Many thanks to the trail builders!

Did you try this trail? I thought sourlands was was something until i tried a small stretch of this. Had to abort since i was on my xc bike with baloney skin casing tires. 🤣

Yup. Ride orange every time (down direction only). While orange is tough, it's been armored in an intentional way with bigger rocks and i know the lines. I usually dab once or twice on it but that's usually due to the combo of tech and climbing on the few short ups. The rock garden on the new trail is all natural and there is no line. Just gotta power thru the chunk.

Spied a few fresh cut-thru’s today. Not sure if these are official or unsanctioned. All three are very short so I’m not sure they have a purpose?

Looking to ride here this weekend, most likely Sunday. With the rain we got the past couple days, would Dickerson be ok to ride this weekend?
