Computer (Mac) Question

it would be cheaper to get a chromebox.

i might even have one you can take when you grab the hitch lock.

For what he's doing yea, I'm on my third. My first cost 150ish and lasted 7 years my second lasted a year because my son jumped on it damaging the hd so now it runs off of a sad card for Minecraft on Ubuntu while my third I use for development, photo editing and everyday things.

I've spent maybe 600 dollars on them in 9(?) years. It's a hard adjustment for about a week but once you realize it's like an Android phone with a keyboard it's fine. As an early adopter they've come a long way but for the majority of computer users they are good enough, and for more advanced users it doesn't take much effort to make it work.

yes, i'm probably 7 years into it, and have always had unix access. my kid has a gaming pc, so i can run my accounting s/w,
which i could run as a subscription on-line. (it runs win10 home, but has a shim which allows multiple users and RDP)

and can always instantiate a windows machine on amazon, ms, or google free tier!
chromebox now includes linux layer too.

google photos kinda pissed me off - there is no way to mount photos as a drive. but when i plug my phone in, i can see
the phone as a drive.

So... the Mac crapped out yesterday. White screen of death?
Replaced the hard drive and so far so good.

I may not need @jklett's torch...

if that doesnt work a cheap chromebook is not a bad option. probably get a decent one under $150. good luck.

I am hoping its as simple as a hard drive. Currently backing up on a USB drive just in case.
I don't need tons of memory... what are they? like $50 for 500gig?
A 2 TB Western Digital external drive goes for $65.

Okay, not to hijack, but since it seems like Paul has things squared away,
a question for the tech heads:
Is there a way I delete Times New Roman font from my computers?
I hate that crap.
If it was a person, I'd throat punch it.
