Chimney Rock Conditions

Trails are decent considering the rain we got last night, just alot of trees down. Spots of mud and puddles but the ground is absorbing a lot of it nicely.

Yellow Bottom: At the bottom of Krams DH
Yellow Climb: Just after the 4 way intersection. I made it rollable-ish.
Black mud pit: Still muddy.
Orange top: Near the top, if climbing from the Gilbride side.

Went for a shorter ride tonight and the parts I rode (Yellow, Cromwell) wasn’t as bad as you would expect considering the flooding Monday.

Still crazy how that storm reshaped some of the trails and it felt like a different park. Washed out sections, rocks all over, etc. A little tlc will go a long way.

Bridge on yellow is still there, but one edge dropped about a foot and may need to be repositioned.

Lmk if anyone is going to organize a TM session and I’ll be there to put in some hours

7/18 Update. Did 2 hrs this morning to check out the conditions after the storm. Did parts of every section. To my surprise, things are mostly fine. Like Mike said, lots of loose rocks on the trails but that might be the worst of it. Some erosion issues here and there and some standing water in spots. Overall nothing to worry about and it's good to ride right now.
I didn't hit every trail, so if you see something that looks like a big issue, please post up and we will get it on the "to do" list.

This probably isn’t something most riders hit on the Cromwell side, it’s on the gravel path towards the dirt mound next to the Stop Sign trail.
It’s still sturdy, but the sand/gravel holding it down is just eroded away - that hole looks straight down into water underneath.

The gravel paths took some abuse, lots of erosion and gaps.

Not sure what we got overnight, but in Bound Brook it barely rained in the afternoon. But apparently to the west there was way more rain. So, seems like it depends…
I live in Bridgewater. I was on Washington Valley Road around 3:30 when the skies opened up, complete downpour from about 3:30-5-ish.. I’m not sure how much we got overnight, but the ground was pretty wet by me.
That said it’s been dry recently so I’m sure a lot was absorbed back into the ground, but I’d expect spots of standing water and lots of debris from the wind yesterday.. I’d give it until at least tomorrow for a decent ride.

Thank you for the update. Yeah, was thinking of heading there tomorrow.

8-10” trunk down on black, it’s the first gulley crossing headed towards Cromwell (the one without the go-around). It’s a bit precarious to navigate and will sneak up on you if you’re hauling.

Also want to report the stench of death in the Newman’s lane parking lot. If that smell is your kryptonite be forewarned….that smell is my kryptonite.

The frisbee golf posting is a hanger that may or may not need to be addressed. Personally I don’t trust them.
