Chimney Rock Conditions

Pull into camp, drive straight and look for large building on your left. We should be parked behind it. We will either be working above the parking area or on the trails west of that.
What time are you starting?

Tried Friday afternoon with the intention of helping over at Cromwell after . It was wet and mud so trail work it was.
Ended up doing dawn patrol here Saturday and got 2 1/2 hours in on frozen goodness. It was a good day. Didn’t go over to Cromwell because it’s still officially closed apparently. Everything else was ridden.
Middle blue is cleared. Thank you to the sawer. Great work as usual.

How long does this place take to dry out? We're in snow up north. I guess this is an academic question, as we're getting soaked on Tuesday.

Maybe next week? Might rain over the weekend making it even worse after tomorrow's rain, but next week looks like freezing temps so early morning rides could be doable.

Everything I rode Saturday morning was icy dirt. When I was there Friday afternoon before trail work it was wet mud over ice. This place will take forever to dry out at this point from the excessive rain lately. Pray for below freezing temps.
Hartshorne woods dries out rather quickly as does allaire. I don’t love allaire but it’s better than nothing IMHO.

I'm just uphill from the park and my yard isn't frozen yet, guessing will still be messy. Though should be frozen solid by Wednesday.
Rode this morning, very crispy crunchy, most wet spots frozen, small number a little wet.

Trees down in 2 different spots on interior blue right past where the two interior trails merge, right where the new re-route is. Both can be ridden over but may not be in everyone's wheelhouse.

The bridge on lower blue washed out again

Lower interior red also had a tree down, too portion of it over trail so can't ride over thru under it.

Added a few more pics; I rode everything except yellow/green. I moved a few things out of the way that I could today; this is the stuff I came across that isn’t a one person job. (Unless that person has a chainsaw)

Ground was mostly frozen, but not everything. Some ice broke, some ice didn’t.
Parts of lower blue is flowing water, i don’t think it’ll be freezing anytime soon.
A section of orange down to CRR was a sheet of ice, use caution. (I’m guessing it’s getting a lot of cold wind, because it was solid).

Hmm. Can you clarify that Cromwell one? I was literally just there and everything was clear. But I did not ride what I consider the swamp. The Southeast "quadrant" if you will.

Sure! Hopefully this helps. Coming off the lower bench below the basketball courts. A right takes you to the new (amazingly awesome) switches above the courts and a left takes you into the trails. It’s maybe 100-200 feet in.

Gotcha. Ok that's the 1 area I skipped today because it's a bit of a mess there. I'll see if I can get out there this week.

Lots of stuff down in the park so it'll be a few days before we get to it all. Thanks for the info!

forgot to mention I only rode some of blue (avoided the bulk of lower) and all of red. There was a LOT of debris, cleared what l could outside of that which needs chainsaw or a few that weren’t impediments to progress as I had a time limit.
