Chimney Rock Conditions

I must have been at a different park then. Rode it Sunday afternoon and besides Yellow; Red & Orange were a bit of a mess in areas. I will definitely give it some more time to dry out further.

I think Sunday was a mess because it got below freezing on Saturday night and then warmed up and got the freeze thaw phenomenon. Nassau was the same on Sunday (to a lesser extent)

Some slimy spots on white
Blue was surprisingly good.
Black was fine other than the soft spots.

Finally crossed paths with @Bikeworks today. Will try to coordinate a ride one of these days.

Spotted the High Tech crew working on orange off the 3-way. Getting away from the drainage ditch!

Great finally meeting up with you! If the weather holds through Thursday I'll likely hit it again then.

I don't know that part of Orange where they were working. At least, I don't think I do?

As Pat mentioned, we knocked out another trail improvement with the HT crew yesterday. This one on the larger side and not easy with all the baby-heads to deal with. Mostly happy with the final results. Thanks to Ryan and Larry who came out to spend the day with us, appreciate the hard work and company. And thank you to Paul/HT for the large crew. 1 more large one to go next week before we transition to regular maintenance/trimming.

Red/White/Blue about as good as they're gonna get so get the rides in before the forecast rain coming tomorrow afternoon.

Blue in best shape (did not go past the entry to interior after the switchbacks tho, so can't speak to over there).

Red and white couple of wet spots but much better than 2 days ago.

The Orange re-routes are terrific. Thanks to Kurt and the crew for all of the work!

By the way, a guy in the ballfield parking lot gave me an item related to Garmin GPS devices. Said he found it 2-3 weeks' ago on Yellow and left it in a conspicuous spot, but nobody claimed it. If you can identify the lost item, please reach out.

Could not resist and took off from work early.

Orange reroute is so smooth and the rock armoring is beautifully done. The old granola and loose marbles climb disappeared like a fart in a hurricane. Barely a trace of the old route left. Great work.

Indeed, as good as it gets for mid-February.

Yep. Only got an hour and a half in but Everything I did was great, save a few puddles in the usual spots.
Kirt and crew, great job on orange! That must have been a hell of a day.
I beat the rain but I don’t think it rained for too long. Hopefully still solid for Saturday dawn patrol.

Conditions glorious today. This storm didn’t do much. Another one coming hopefully drops just as little!

Muddy and soft today - rode everything except blue. Not quite Six Mile mud, but enough to make it worth driving elsewhere today and tomorrow.

I do like the new routing on the top of orange… fantastic work!! Thank you @Kirt and the HT crew - for all of the maintenance there, so many spots have been cleaned up.

Rode red and blue, unfortunately couldn’t get out before it got above freezing. Blue was in better shape of the two. Red had many greasy spots. Didn’t bother with while based on how red was.

Really gotta cross my arse over chimney rock road and check out all the good work that’s been don’t over there! These comments making me jealous haha.

What time were you over there? Asking since 6 mile did not hold up well this am either. By 9, I was racing back to the 27 lot to beat the thaw. Direct sun light seemed to melt everything instantly. Today’s crystal clear skies didn’t help.

Did yellow and bit of black behind Gilbride.

Yellow was nice. Some soft spots but no standing water or peanut butter.

Should have stayed away from black. The new sections by the water were fine and bedding in well. But, the sections that run parallel further up the contour line of the hillside were still wet.

Benchcut trail looking gorgeous in the afternoon sun.

Anyone want some Husky brand Allen keys, size 1.5 to 10? A series of circumstances have led to my possession of an extra new set. New and unused.

I left them behind the plaque at the Martinsville WW2 memorial. Go get ‘em if you want ‘em. They are tucked behind the rock.

Thoughts on going for a quick spin today? It's absolutely gorgeous outside and I got out of work early!

climb out to the gilbride gate, cross behind the fields and return.
