Chimney Rock Conditions

Conditions were perfect today. Almost too dry.
Went at 1pm. Seems like hikers tapered off a bit. Instead of 100 separate people there were 10 groups of 10 people in each group. 😉

10/11 very dry. Trails are covered with leaves.
Newman's lane lot was overcrowded to the point people were parking on the street.
Ballfield lot was empty.

Chimney was overall good conditions today. Trails were damp in spots but not muddy. Standing water here and there. Yellow was the best, Blue was in the worst condition, with plenty of mud in the ‘usual spots’. Would give blue another day to dry out.

Rode trails from Gilbride lot this am. Overall good. Yellow was good, upper black had a muddy stretch, and water was flowing a bit down orange to Gilbride .

Overall good today, yellow the best and blue the worst (as expected). Plenty of hikers , Newman lot packed. Park at Ballfields!
looks like some trees still down mostly on yellow from Monday’s wind. Some have been cut out (thank you) but others not. Hand saw should handle most everything still down.

I don’t know if there’s an official trail maintenance plan for the Greenbrook Trail heading off of Blue, but the large bridge that you encounter first after leaving Blue has sustained some damage from a large fallen tree:

The scouts and town engineer take care of that - and all the bridges outside the SCPC property.

Needs to be a bit colder. Lots of moisture under there. Kept freezing up my pulleys.

Going to warm up a bit the next 2 days.
