CD Player to wireless/network

No Apple but have an older Widows 10 box, so I guess that will work.

I'm using the same, with a large second HD for files. There's a Sonos for windows app which let's yours erve up the files into your music library.

I suggest starting here (since it's free) and adjust as needed. I planned to get all fancy with a NAS and all that bullshit but I just never got to it. And I don't have a pressing reason to do so, which means I likely never will.

This. Except for those unreleased cassette bootlegs off WNEW FM that you can never replace. Like Bruce 8/15/75 from The Bottom Line NYC.
Back in the day we used to record using HIFI VHS player/recorder. It was the poor man's ADAT.

Not to derail but similar question on movies. What are you using to catalog your media server? I bought some software about 10 years ago that has since lost support. Looking for something that links to IMDb or RT for art and data.

I was a Columbia House/BMG whore in the ‘90s plus I spent lots of time going through the CD racks in Vintage Vinyl, Compact Disk World, The Record Setter in EB, and other various record stores that are long gone.
I’ve got about 800ish CDs, ain’t nobody got time to burn all these!
Plus I’m sure a lot is out of print and unavailable on streaming services.
Physical media is awesome, fight me!!!

…And I’m still pissed that my 2020 F-150 has no CD player! I didn’t even realize it until the day after I picked it up when I brought my Master of Puppets CD out to test out the sound system.
All I heard was a sad trombone when I looked for somewhere to insert the disc.

they rip themselves, ya just got to load them.
auto start, auto eject.

i started with some cloud based library on SunOS or Solaris back in the 90s.
The titles and album art were in the cloud, but you needed to keep the music locally.
maybe 500 over the years. i still have them on a portable drive - but use apple music match (itunes match now)
and of course Pandora Premium and SXM streaming - cause employee benefit.

Rip them all to a hard drive - put them in the cloud.
Use favorite streaming player to play them.

if you are an apple person, i think they checksum the cd vs actually ripping it (itunes match),
then just add it to the library - very quick. It is then available on all your apple devices.
There are some add'l steps to connect sonos.
This. I have my entire CD library on a 1st Gen iPad, and still running fine. I also added Spotify to my listening options, and can stream everything to my family room, main floor, workshop and garage.

While you're at it, can you pop over and rip my pile? Shouldn't take more than an afternoon, right?

Cool fab shop!

How many time shave you been asked to throw them CD's away?
Was harder to get rid of than you'd think! I explored multiple options but I eventually sold them off in bulk to PRX and raked in a paltry $500 and change for it. There was just over 3000 cd's and thats counting box sets as 1 also. The value was mostly in some SACD's and other rare box sets with most of them being valued at a measly 10c ea. Was my fathers old collection and between transport and storage from out of state, i'm still in the hole on it. Mostly traditional jazz and classical, there was 1 CD i found multiple of and that was Vince Guaraldi's Charlie Brown's Christmas. Guess with over 3k CD's, he'd forget it had that one and re-purchase it again from time to time as he scoured used CD exchanges. 😂

All I see is bunch of random character lines 😕
Me too. From the reactions, sounds impressive! We have over 600 discs - my wife made me get rid of the jewel cases when we moved. I wish I still had some of them.

Same here. BTW, my extensive CD collection came from Italy on a portable HD, still going strong. I'm an old man, I don't believe any music was produced in the last 15 years that is worth buying (with a few exceptions). Are you guys really listening to Bruce? I thought the whole point of his music was that upon listening to it you would commit suicide...so depressing!

I did the same thing for part of my collection, which moved to the CD/DVD binder. I have not opened them once I ripped them so I do not miss them either 🙂

The embed on the pic was ephemeral. The site hosting it is no longer serving it.

Same issue as google photos, only different.
