Cars, it's electric! Do Do Do

I think its a perfect analogy. With a car, its not about the road, its more fundamental than that. Its about the on demand speed, safety, reliability, efficiency and sometimes fun ability to autonomously move from point A to point B. In the same way that a phones fundamental function is wireless voice, data, etc. transmission from point A to point B, providing the user with total portability. All the networks, apps, etc. are just features that improve portability and autonomy, and continuously improve. On a car, the electronics, batteries, motors, chips, etc. directly contribute to the key tenants of efficiency, speed, safety, etc. and are all improving at the same rate as what's in your phone because the fundamental components are very close, in some cases the same. I don't see how any person would want an outdated version of something that decreases their ideal enablers of autonomy.
So are you talking about all cars? Or just EV's specifically? Cause I don't see how EV's are different than ICE in what you're saying.

The article says 10-20 years is an estimate. There is little real world data yet because they haven't been around long enough.
If someone is comfortable buying a 10 year old EV, best of luck to them. I have a wait and see approach with this.

It can be argued that the older propulsion systems in some ICE cars are more desirable than the newer ones. The used market is bearing this out. Folks seem to prefer the naturally aspirated larger engines of the past vs. the more complex and smaller turbo-charged & direct injected engines we have now. Also, an ICE cars efficiency and speed are less tied to any complex processing systems. You also have the option to modify, upgrade, replace your ICE cars motor. So if you're in love with your older Porsche, Corvette, Mustang, Pinto, VW whatever, you can engine swap or upgrade your way to more modern performance.

Or you can convert your old ICE car into an EV

September deals awaiting? Or will we need to wait till next year for desperation selling by dealers?
It'll be a bargain, the perfect accessory for rolling up to the trailhead with the e-bike, except you don't need make nearly the same amount of cockamamie excuses to by one.

yeah, sold the S for a X (Mrs)
and if you are keeping tabs, breaking news we 100% own the 3 now! 🙂
The guy who I got the S from hit me up the other day to see if I want to buy his S again. Raven ludicrous etc. but I said no thank you. He got the go from Rivian

Joking aside, my best friend bought one of these and paid extra to get all the Mustang badging removed since its no Mustang. As far as cars go, the interior is nice, it rides nice, its decently quick, handles exactly like an car in this class would. Not as quick as a Tesla or Taycan, but sufficiently quick. I think Ford would have sold more if they didn't call it a Mustang. Its kind of like Porsche making an electric version of the Macan and calling it a 911.

ya, the model y, the mach e, kia ev6, ionic 5....I mean they are great and all, but your still paying $50k + for one.....you can get a rav4 hybrid that gets close to 40mpg for under 40k. Id like one someday, but they are alot of fucking money as of today...this is obviously changing every day.

For a short while, the Model 3 RWD was in the 30's. Around here in Wyckoff, I see high school kids driving them. I guess the cheaper prices and the safety rating has some parents buying them for their kids.

With $2500 off for taking Ford Options financing (which I paid off immediately) and $7500 fed incentive, I paid $44,700 for my 2021 Mustang Mach E Premium AWD extended battery. Not in the same class as a Rav4 Hybrid, but excellent deal for that car 🤣 . Would've had it for $39,700 if I'd gotten the $5,000 State incentive at the time but program ran out of money for the year and I missed the window.
