Car-spotting thread

No pics but a crazy incident on the way home today from the Union train station. I drove from Rt22 to I78 West using Summit Rd, locals know it's a pretty steep road with some bends. So, I'm driving up before the last bend near the crest and I see a lady run into the road and a black hackback with the driver door is backing out which I thought it was odd since it's a pretty busy road at rush hour. I quickly realize that she is trying to stop her car from rolling out of her driveway and she ends up getting knocked down by her door while she's trying to stop it. She narrowly escapes getting run over by her front wheel as the car charges downhill. For a second I consider cutting off the car but the lady is laying on the ground. At this point I've slowed to almost a stop and see the car from my rear view mirror hit a bank about 100yds away and flips over. I brace for impact for another car coming up which I can't see as it bends down there. Good thing, the lady jumps up and runs into her property after seeing her car perform like Simone Biles. I didn't turn around to check out the mayhem, but I wished I had my cars with the dash cams. Don't think the car was a manual but I believe it was a Ford. Maybe pocketbook got stuck on the shift knob and she yanked the gearing into neutral?...

Good God this bird has a new creak and popping sound coming from the rear view mirror area. Haven't done much the past two years and even drove it infrequently as I was unemployed didn't need another headache. My new job is a 40% paycut so, my plans to take it to a tuner in Long Valley will need to wait. @UtahJoe does your completely rebuilt Mustang sound like every body panel is rattling off?PXL_20250327_221131685.MP.jpg

I think you're going to have to live with some of that. Old muscle cars had a lot more flex even new and verts are the worst. My '70 Vette used to feel like it was falling apart when you went over railroad tracks and that was considered a fairly good chassis at the time. It's probably the windshield frame flexing. Was there any rust repair done in that area?

I spent probably the first month finding rattles and quieting them. But 60s cars with big engines vibrate things loose. They will never feel good driving over rail road tracks

When I drove my friends Beatle I got nervous as I got up to a rough section of railroad tracks, like 4 or 5 sets in a row. Felt almost like a modern car.

Is the Firebird body on frame or unibody? If unibody it's probably going to be extremely flexible.

front subframe on rear unibody, but he has a rear independent, trailing link suspension.
front subframe replaced for the restomod.
Not sure if they cross plated underneath, but there are upper cross braces.

i'd bet some rust developed under the trim. mine had rust in the upper corners of both sides of the windshield
