Car-spotting thread

I was invited to look at a private collection today. Most are owned by one dude, a few are owned by close friends. Of course, they rarely get driven. There was a second room with a Bently, Turbo S, a Jag, and a Fox body. I hope to get invited back in warmer weather. I'm not at liberty to disclose anything further at this time.

Thank goodness no F40. Every time I hear about an F40 that never gets driven I cry a little inside.

Okay good. So that's how to deal with bank checks. I know it's a common scam to use fake bank checks that will clear in a few days and then come back as fraud a week or 2 later.
Late to the game here - I have gone to the Bank with someone and had the check made in front of them. Then signed the title.

During COVID I bought a Jeep in Nebraska. I REALLY knew what I was looking at. After 8+ hours on the phone and verifying a lot of things I sent a wire. The title was at my house two days later and the jeep seven days later. If you do this you REALLY need to know what is up with the vehicle and seller. It helps to know the shipper as well.

I definitely don't know my 50s and 60s cars. Never been my thing.

And no, I was down with the cars but the cigar room upstairs was the best photo.

I did the same w/ the cash sale on my truck last year. Went to the bank and had them run the bills through their machine to make sure they were legit. Then he got the title. Trust nobody lol.

This is an acquaintance of mines garage. It is insane, I try to touch nothing. The stories of who owned these cars and/or where they were found is mesmerizing.View attachment 207505View attachment 207506
wow, thats quite a collection....I see a Duesenberg and a V8 Caddy....Judging by hood ornaments. And ya, Duesenberg's were 15,000-$20,000 in 1930 when a model A ford was 3-$500....so they will all have a special story.
