Car-spotting thread

@THATmanMANNY

I had the GT3 listed on FB Marketplace, a few FB Exotics groups, Rennlist, and Porsche Club of America classifieds. FB was all low ballers and chatty Kathys. The new owner was from PCA and only buys from other PCA members. Best $46 membership ever (sorry JORBA). I think when you buy a six figure car, it should come with a full tank. I offered breakfast as well but he was on a time crunch. Either that or he didn't want pancakes with a pleeb.

The owner of High Marques Motor Cars in Morristown had contacted me about putting in their showroom on consignment. I was considering it when the new owner came through.

Hey how do you handle the $ transaction? Assuming this time you didn't get cash. I'll be listing our 2019 Subaru forester soon on Autotrader - sounds like zelle is the way?

There is a lot of trust and reputation of people in the PCA. So now that you are a member, track events and autocrosses?

ETA on the new car is currently 5/5. Production seems to be on track but finding a boat across the ocean is the bottleneck now.

I had a guy last week that wanted to pay with a suticase of cash and have a bill of sale written up for $80,000. I refused to sign a fraudulent bill of sale and he went away. Nice upstanding Italian guy in the excavation business. Yeah, no thanks.

The buyer and I discussed this at length. I initially wanted a wire transfer and he was fine with that. But since we had a few days before pickup, he did a bank check from Chase and sent me a picture of it. I called the branch he got the check from in MD. Spoke with the branch manager who issued the check. She confirmed his account, the funds, the check number, and the issue amount. Then when he got here Friday, we stopped at the local Chase branch and they also verified the check as valid.

I deposited it Friday at TD Bank and it cleared today. I expected 3+ days for a check of that amount.

I'm in it for the tee shirt. Never say never, but I don't think I'll track this car. The GT3 was the car to track. The T will be better in the twisties. I may still do TOTD this summer. Or may skip a year depending on when delivery occurs.

I'd really like to do this for my 50th in two years. It's expensive but it's less than the difference between the T and the GTS allocation that I turned down.

Okay good. So that's how to deal with bank checks. I know it's a common scam to use fake bank checks that will clear in a few days and then come back as fraud a week or 2 later.

If I didn't just do the kitchen and didn't have a son in college, that Carrera T really could draw me back into the PCA. The GT3 may have been a track car, but I bet the Carrera T will be a lot more fun.
Enjoy TOTD and the Porsche Experience on your 50th or sooner!

What’s the purpose paying for “the experience “ if you already have the car?

Dealer called me after the car got there. Engine light on. misfire 3rd cylinder. Plus whatever is wrong with the AWD.

Maybe can look at it in a week or so all jammed up with limited techs. Sigh.

that sounds shitty, hopefully you have an extra car.
