Used kuat bike rack for $300, pics show rust. Is this worth buying or skip and wait for something better? Thanks!

I know nothing about them, but I'd but @Bikeworks

The rusty parts you see on that Kuat are probably OK, just looks like shit.

But if that part of the rack is bad, the arms are likely not working right.

It's a 2" which is nice.

Im not sure what these racks are selling for used. That rust is more cosmetic. I had the same rack and it looked like that but worked fine.
Kuat may offer you replacement parts if you send pics in.
I'd offer him $200-$250.

I would be worried about the state of bolts and locking mechanism with that much rust. I have the same rack and it's rated to carry 2 ebikes, so very robust...

Where did you buy and sell? I can't find anything normally priced on Facebook marketplace
I got lucky with the 1up to be honest, they didn't realize what it was worth. They contacted me if I knew anyone interested. Sold mine here.
I bought my rockymounts through etrailer and went to their sales section and bought an open box for $350.
If you call them and ask if they have any open box racks for sale they will hook you up.

I have this same rack. This one looks a little beat up but even that first gen is a great rack. Many of the parts are still available from Kuat at very reasonable prices. If you can get it for less than $225, a little spray paint and you'll be golden.

I would skip. More and more, I just can’t stand looking at people’s misused trash and the unrealistic prices they put on it. Those rusty bits could be restored but it would be time consuming. If you want a project, offer the dude $100.
