Brakes

it gives you more stopping power because there is more surface area to brake pad contact.
 
Also, if your rims get muddy (which they will) the performance of v-brakes will be hampered. Brake rotors, however, rarely get caked up with dirt and mud, so you're still able to brake well even in yuckie conditions.

I don't happen to like disc-brakes but they seem to be the new standard.

I was just planning on hitting a small tree so it wouldn't hurt as much :lol:
