Brake lever replace?

Thanks! It's just as easy to change the whole lever. I thought it would be tough, that's why I thought removing the pin would be easier. But further inspection shows it's a simple job. Thanks for the quick advise.
ps.. I don't know why when I crash left, I break levers on the right,
and when I crashed to the right I broke the shifter on the left. Duh.

Don't tighten the lever all the way down. That way if you crash, there is some give and hopefully lever will just turn on the bars and nothing breaks. But stop crashing in the first place is the best way to do it 😀 Sometime I get worried for you!!

Hey! Those are two great ideas! I'll try both of them.

Do people actually do this? I rode with a guy once that did this, but they were too loose for my liking. Could be pretty dangerous going over the rough and your hand knocks it out of use or something.

I tighten it down enough that it's difficult to move w/o putting some weight on it. I have seen people who just let it all hang around doe.

I just did my XT lever yesterday that had a pin, it had a set screw holding the pin in from the side with a .00000000002mm hex

That's what my LBS told me too, some have that set screw and some don't. But my x7 levers don't have a set screw, you just punch out the pin with a punch. I'm opting for changing the whole break assembly so as not to have to mess with that nasty spring.

The spring is easy, fwiw. Use a short section of slightly small rod, and assemble the lever blade outside of the lever. Stick it in the body, and use the pivot to push the rod out. Voilà.

It's the same procedure for replacing spring-assisted levers on hydraulic brakes.
