What is that rear brace thing? It looks like it might be kind of important.

Or is the cassette jammed on the hub?

Edit: read through the last page of the thread. Cassette threaded onto the hub body. Did you spray it down with a penetrate to try and free it up? PB Blaster or something like it should work.

It's a regular 8 spd cassette.... just stuck in there pretty good.
I didn't want to use penetrating thingamajig.... but as long as it doesn't mess with the grease in the hub....

Oops.. i meant to say 9 spd on the previous post.
The 26 wheel that came with the Superlight... it has a 9 spd cassette. I was trying to take this off to place an 8 spd instead.

If I were you I would scrap the 8 speed and go with 9. Parts should be not too hard to find. I actually prefer twist shifters to triggers.

Are you married to the 27.5 idea on Superlight? 26 ain't so bad and the market is so bad on them you can get some good deals on forks and wheels. I have an XT front wheel just sitting around for 4years.
