The new GX went on the Hightower w/o any adjustment to the B screw

The extender required 5mm of extra spacers on top. Let's see how this works out on the Marley. Top bolt of the stem sits on the extender and the bottom bolt sits on the steerer tube so thinking it won't kill me?

Only thing left to do on the Axum is shortening the travel on the fork.

Only thing left to do is ride.
In hind sight... should have taken some pictures of the RDO and the Zombie.

I would have gone with something like this to make sure the fork doesn’t falls off the bike…

How would this help?
The way you installed he stem only half the clamp is gripping the steering tube, if it spins then you rely entirely on the extension expansion plug, if that slips nothing holds the frame and fork together. With that ring, the fork and frame are firml connected regardless. IMHO.

About 10 minutes into the ride... I feel the headset slightly loose and I see this...

About less than 2mm of separation. Initial thought was to turn back and perform the walk of shame. Then I thought... maybe it just needs to be tightened down more. It was initially torque down at 7nm. Just on feel I tightened it down to what felt like more than 7nm. But not much more. Decided to continue and inspect every so often. At the end of a 5mile ride... less than a mm of separation. It survived HM and I even hit that small lip at the bottom of The Wall.

Now fiber grip is recommended on compression plugs but I didn't apply. Call me nuts but I think this is a win. A little fiber grip and torque it down to 8 or 9nm and I think it will stay put.

….. I guess we know what your epitaph will say.

Seriously, I would not run it. I think buying a new CSU for the fork if the steerer cannot be replaced would be a much better and safer solution. Or just slam it if you don't want to spend the money. There so many chances for injuries in this sport, I wouldn't create any additional ones. 2mm of displacement in such a short time? Scary!

A new csu is around $350... at this price... better to get a whole fork.
It was the 1st thing I looked at.
Gonna look for a used fork but in the meanwhile... it will have to do.
Gonna need a fork with at least a 9" steerer... not gonna be easy.
