Sheldon Brown says to use light grease or oilI have a bottle of linseed oil if you need. Been using anti seize instead.

Yup. It creates heat as it dries as most oils do. If the rag is laid flat it'll generally be fine but if you crumple it up it will spontaneously combust. I just keep a big coffee can full of water to put the rags in whenever I use oil finishes.
