BMW launch new bike

When car makers BMW announced plans to release an M Series bicycle earlier this year, it certainly provoked a reaction – our story attracted 89 comments, almost every one of them negative!
Well, it obviously hasn't put them off as the German company now have a range of seven cycles, including full-suspension mountain bikes, kids' rides and even a flat-barred tourer.
The most eyecatching is this new orange BMW Cruise Bike, which appears to use the same hydroformed aluminium frame as the €1,500 M Series but comes in €631 cheaper. The vivid colour is apparently inspired by the 1970s BMW 1802 sports sedan, which was only available in that hue. Two other colour options are available.
It's kitted out with a 75mm-travel Suntour NCX-D fork, Shimano Alivio groupset (eight-speed cassette), Schwalbe City Plus 2.1in tyres on Rodi Airline Plus rims, adjustable own-brand stem and a Selle Royal Freccia saddle. It comes with a kickstand but – oddly for an urban/leisure bike – no mudguards. Claimed weight is 13.9kg (30.6lb), and it sells for £721.13 in the UK.
BMW say it's ideal for "a ride along a beach or a trip into town, a weekend excursion or a club crawl". What do you reckon? Have your say in the comments box below.
