Bike wanted

yo peeps-

i'm helping a buddy of mine in his search for a decent bike. he just (finally!!) got a job after eight months of looking so he needs it to get to the train to get to NYC. some guidelines:

-unless it's an mtb, it will be used solely for commuting so fender compatibility is essential.
-if it's an mtb, it's gotta be rigid
-he's not against a single speed, but does not want a fixie
-29er is preferrable but not required
-he's 5'11 so he's probably a L for mtb...maybe a 56" in a roadie?
-he's on a budget so the it can't be expensive. under $500.

i know most of you have that n+1+1 bike that you've been really needing to move out so this is a great opportunity. post up or PM me with whatcha got.

Jim! Cool man, I'll pass it along. I was trying to get him to do a fat bike but kinda figure locking that at the train station isn't such a good idea.

Target has a single speed fixed gear for $119, worth a look to see if it is a flip flop hub and a freewheel can be added and if it has fender bosses.

Says online only but I saw a white one with green accents in the Princeton target. For a dedicated commuter that will be left outside all day, why not?

If he's parking it at the train station, I'd recommend he go cheap cheap cheap. I've seen plenty of bikes get their spokes cut and in general, vandalized.
