Biggest loser

That was my story this summer! I’ve been trying to make better choices while eating out. I usually scour the menu to make sure there’s something I can eat before committing. 😉
My boss took me out for lunch today to Buffalo wild wings I ordered a grilled chicken salad with the dressing on The side plus an order of 6 boneless wings well it was buy one get one so that turned into 12 wings ok fine still ok by me then the salad comes out and the grilled chicken was smothered in some sort of dressing I said to the girl I thought the dressing was on the side she said it is that's the seasoning I'm like wtf!!! They just want me to get fat again lol
Trying to find the right amount of calorie intake to have energy to do everything yet not gain has been hard enough then mix in all this eating out where you have no clue on calories and ughhhh

Stuck to the routine, got my ride in, and even had a touch more calories with a snack before bed. Mint m&m’s are so good! Scale is cooperating again - 166.8.

I’ve got an easy ride plan today, and a warm-up ride Saturday morning, and then it’s go time on Sunday!

I can't stop eating!
Think i need a fasting day, break the cycle.
Fridge surfing is killing me.

Still hanging in around 190, but i'm now feeling crappy.

Doing some TM the last couple days helped wake-up the legs.
Weather is awesome.
20 weeks until vacation in florida - so i gotta thin down and get some fitness going so i can hang with @rick81721 and @Rick's_Friend_Bob

Do it. Break the cycle! That's probably the hardest part of any of this.

Other than vacation, i don't have an event on the calendar to motivate me.
There is a 1/2 marathon on Jan 1st in the Lehigh Valley area. 14 weeks is about right to train.
I could jump in some cx races late season (i'm event director for beastcross) - try not to get pulled 10 minutes in!

i've been doing a bunch of ladder work during the day, so not making any of the evening rides.
That could change quickly as the job is wrapping up.

Going to go light on the food today - get out of the house so the Fridge Sirens don't start to call me.....

The event to prepare for will deffintly help with motivation or at least it did for me. I registered last night for another tough mudder next year going to do one by Philly in May and one I. The Poconos again prob September. I registered for the 15k this time Instead of the 5k and my wife registered for the 5k to find her own motivation to keep on track as well. I really need to cut this shit out right now and not let it get away from me.

It's no mystery why obesity is the norm In America. I bought lunch earlier this week as well and a salad from wegmans was 14 bucks but the pizza was half that and a made to order foot long sub was cheaper as well.... so frustrating 😫

it is also readily available. Just click and food shows up in less than half an hour.

My niece is going out to boulder on a work assignment - she also likes to ski.
Going to be a big eye opener trying to go from almost zero fitness at sea level to operating above 8,000'
Luckily she is 22, and this could be her wake-up call.

I'm feeling kinda motivated now! maybe a quick hike to scout out the area for TM tomorrow at the Sourlands.

E2M program Round 5, Wk 3, Day 1

Diet
Another late check-in. Was a busy couple days, and again slipped off the slippery slope with a little over indulgence. Did good with early meals, but started to snack and snack on things way off plan. Friday evening had some friends over which included bread, pasta, cakes, snacks and beer. Saturday had some more bread and beers. Sunday had a surprise birthday party at 1pm for the Eagles/Lions game and had more bread and beers. Got home and had some ice cream. It was more of a cheat weekend as a opposed to 1 cheat meal.

Exercise
While I tried to stick to the circuits, only succeeded M/W and spin bike session on Tuesday. Th and Fri slept in both mornings and did 30-45 min walks at lunch. Rode both Sat and Sun, but just short, low intensity rides. Will be focusing on staying focused this week.

Weight
1/22/22 Starting weight = 235.4
9/11/22 (Sun) current weight =177.4
Diff: weekly up 3.2, total lost = 58
Getting focused this week. I did weigh myself this morning, but not going to publish it. Let's just say it's not in the 170s. Maintaining the weight is proving to be tougher than losing.

Wife is doing much better with will power than I have. She did hit a low weight mark the other day, which put her at down 42lbs, but she doesn't want to go any lower.
E2M program Round 5, Wk 3, Day 5

Diet
Checking in a day early as we're heading to a Cape May area campground this afternoon for the weekend. Have cheated a little more daily than I should and the scale reflects it. Stuck to plan foods, but excess portions of some health fats (cashews and peanut butter) and chocolate. Had dinner out on Wed after a funeral home visitation. Will be eating out in Cape May, but also bringing food.

Exercise.
Circuits M/W/F, early am 1hr+ rides outside on T/Th. Taking bike for the weekend and will ride around the CM area while my wife does the Beach to Brewery 10k Sat morning. Will attempt to ride early Sunday before departure.

Weight
1/22/22 Starting weight = 235.4
9/16/22 (current weight =178.2
Diff: weekly up .8, total lost = 57.2
I know I've mentioned it previously, but this maintaining shit is hard. Especially when there is things in the house that weren't around for much of the past few months. Need to buckle down.

Wife is maintain much better than I.

Iron cross is calling. October 16th. Now you have motivation and it’s a great time!

damn, that is way out there! I need to put tubes in the SuperX - the gravelkings didn't get along with my rims.
It's an awesome event. You don't need the superX either. MTB will work just fine. I saw a lot suffering on the CX bikes last year as I cruised past on my MTB. Especially if it's wet at all like last year. The after party is supposed to be pretty sweet too. I had to jet after so I missed it last year but definitely one to attend if you have the chance.

Decent weekend, and I already feel better.

Controlled the eating over the last few days, reduced the drinking quite a bit,
and got some exercise in.

Big TM day carrying the heavy backpack into the Sourlands on Saturday morning.
Woke up on Sunday sore all over! Relaxed with a couple Ibuprofen, then managed to
get about 1.5 hours on the trainer in the evening.
Of course it took almost 1/2 hour to update the apple tv and get zwift working again,
but I pedaled through it while watching the evening football game.

Looking to get the scale moving in the right direction this week.
I'll weigh in on Friday - cause I saw an ugly number last week,
and I'd like to be surprised by something more under than over 190.....

FWIW I know someone (not on this forum) that I have known for about 8 years and while he was always a good rider, he was also always a bit chunky. This past season he has put a huge focus on not only his riding but his overall fitness and has dropped 45 lbs and I cant even keep up with him on a road ride any more where I used to drop him easily (he was always a better MTB rider then me but then again thats not too hard to do).

I saw him yesterday after our 100 mile ride, he was able to hang with the 20mph group for over 50 miles before he got dropped, something he could not even imagine even last year. he told me that years ago I gave him some of the best advice and he blew it off until recently. I had told him that every time you think youre hungry and want to reach for that snack, drink 8-12oz of water. He says now he keeps huge insulated drink container with him at work and it 100% helps.

Not saying his is THE quick fix, but for those of you in "maintenance mode" just give it some thought. I will be doing the same once all the Halloween candy and lunch meeting leftovers starts coming around, especially now that I go to the office for work 3 days a week. Just last Thursday someone left 2 boxes of donuts near the water cooler, I filled my bottle and ran away. Literally.

I didn’t quite get to my weight goal for the 50 mile race this weekend, but I felt great out there, for the first lap at least. I was hanging well in the top 10-15 including the pros on the first lap. Then the warning signs started to go off. Calf cramps. Then the next 3:17 of the race it wasn’t about beating the other racers, it was about fighting the cramps. Quad, hamstring, and calf cramps.

I kept pushing through and slamming food and water. It helped here or there, but when I tried to push harder the cramps came back. Finished 3rd in the 40+ group in 4:44 and cut something like 21 minutes off my last finish at this race. Considering the cramping, that’s crazy. It was hot at the race, but a little dehydration and going too hard too soon seemed to be the cramp culprit.

Of course I felt like I was getting a cold just before this race and now I feel like total crap. I’ll stay home and rest tomorrow and try to get back to myself. Then I’ll get back to the routine and see if I can manage better for Ironcross.

Congrats to everyone still doing well in the overall battle! I'm till on the downward trend and I call that a win! 220 is the next milestone I'm looking to hit.
