Biggest loser

On my current yo-yo (trending down) I've only cut out grazing. I'm losing 1lb per month and hardly noticed. I did starve myself one week cause stomach issues and dropped a lot, just not sustainable.

Did you replace alcohol with something?

Like anything, the first 6 weeks sets the pattern.
Not that I can think of, I'm not a dessert or sweets person. Lost maybe 10 lbs initially when I stopped drinking but some weight came back. I need to better portion size

So how are you portion sizing and calorie counting? I rarely buy premade food and don't eat junk food. We typically eat family style with food in the middle and eat what you want. Think I'm going to need make a plate and no seconds.

Been hovering at the same weight for a while - I usually over splurge on the weekend and then spend the week getting back to the same weigh-in number on Friday. Would like to be down 5 pounds....changing of the season/clocks and weather means some early runs before school.

I have 2 food scales, I weigh everything when I'm trying to lose some weight. It's tedious and that's not a bad thing for me...the annoyance can stop me from snacking from time to time. Everything gets logged into MyFitnessPal (252 day streak and counting apparently). Doesn't hurt that I don't get bored of foods and my breakfast is the exact same every morning.

Basically comes down to figure out what works for you. I typically eat back half what I burn on rides (i.e. 2 hour ride/1200 calories, add 600 calories to the day). Doesn't leave me too ravenous and I've found it sustainable.

I've officially lost 10% of my body weight since August with the "don't eat refined carbs and junk food" diet and no other changes. I can still wear all my shirts, jerseys and jackets, but I pretty much need to buy all new pants and shorts now. Another interesting fact: my Ripley AF weighs 26% of my body weight.

Monday check in. Stil hanging at 17 pounds down. This weekends trip to Hershey did not help. Factory tour, park rides, and some good beer. Don’t worry, I definitely overindulged in chocolate. More in the 5,000 + calorie area this time! Sweets everywhere - it was awesome! But not good for the waist. Between this and Halloween the treats need to disappear asap!

How much of that beer was Troegs?

Looking at MyFitnessPal app to do some food tracking and tying my Garmin Connect information into it. While I'm still doing the basics of the E2M meal plan, I'm not 100%.

Assuming others on here are using it. How's it work out for you that do use it?

I used it the last time we did this and it’s great to get a grip on what you’re actually eating. Now I know what my day should look like and don’t log anything, but I also eat the same breakfast and lunch and snacks at work everyday so, there’s that. Then I just add calories for the days workouts. I also add calories when I feel sick because that’s a sign you’re cutting too much. Very slow and steady.

Post vacation/small off-season lull leaves me up 1.6 lbs to 176.2. Looking to add a bit of muscle this winter so I started taking 5mg creatine daily, need to keep on the protein intake but otherwise back in the swing of things. Finally have a no excuses gym located a 2 minute walk from my desk at the office.

Not too bad for an office gym.

That gym is awesome! Curious why you weren't taking creatine year round?

No real reason, just hadn't dabbled (and maybe a little afraid of the water retention during race season).

I tried it when I was younger and lifting more in my 20's. I admittedly don't remember much about the effects but doing a bit more digging the last couple months I think it should be beneficial.

wow well equipped gym for a work facility!

We have a real good one at work/office too but since my hybrid schedule is so flexible I havent even been there once since joining last year. I keep telling myself to get back to some home based bodyweight non bike exercises 1-2 times a week, but with the last 6 weeks of nice weather, I default to just riding or the C2 rower i have for non bike days.

might be time to put bodyweight and dynamic flexibility stuff on a schedule since I am up a few lbs still, but the overall fitness and riding results are still really good.
