best riding direction?

Whats the best riding direction for the blue clockwise or counter clockwise?
Is there a correct direction? Is it the jedi mind trick that the other way is downhill?

I try to alternate directions just to mix things up. I have noticed that when I do the orange trail CCW I am always faster...not sure if there are more downhills in that direction, I think it's all in my head!! I was doin the orange CW today, and flatted at about the 5 mile mark..(Hate when that happens). Needless to say, no speed records today, changed out the tire and just did a mediocre joy ride for fun...

Really pretty negligible difference when you are on the green or blue. Seems like there is a slightly more downhill feel running counter on the blue. Mostly noticeable on the green sections going down through the saplings from the firetower, and then from the fire road back towards the trailhead. There is a bit of a climb back up right before the fork though. Blue is mostly a lot of small ups and downs either way. Maybe a little bit more climbing going counter as you head back towards orange. Think i've noticed that around the intersection with the white. But those climbs can lead to a few little dips where you can build a bit of speed😀.

If you happen to run the green, the fireroad section runs a bit more downhill going clockwise.

Red and white i haven't spent too much time on, but there is a pretty decent climb on the white going from the green at the fire road back towards the trailhead.

Can't speak for the orange, since i haven't made it out there myself yet.

six of one, half dozen of the other 🙂 on all the WSF trails.
Some sections work better one way and other sections work better the other. It all seems to even out, and is dependent on the rider.
Most of the JORBA WSF red, white and blue night rides are CW. For no other reason then... its seems to be easier to keep the group together going in that direction.

We know you just like riding CW Kurt😀 jk. Honestly though, i don't think i have ever ridden any trail there ccw with you. I have with SJMTBRick.

I rode the white to red to blue on Tuesday and that seems like one big uphill ride. It is definitely less traveled and softer than the blue. That was ccw. And seemed to be same length in time for me. It seems to take me about 1 hr to 1hr 5mins to complete the blue in ccw. Haven't tried it cw yet.

May be trying something similar tomorrow. Right at the fork to the white, and then clockwise around white, red, blue, orange, and back on green. Riding with a friend who hasn't been out in a while, so trying to keep it shorter. Thinking this way will be a bit more downhill. Still potentially a little tough due to the red and white still packing down some.

I went out for a short 8.5 yesterday and caught up with Kurt before heading out. Thanks for the tip on the route.. blue cw to green to white to green.
Fun ride with some nice flowy sections on the blue. The white was really nice since it was the most clear.

not sure i understand that route.

Thanks, I was trying to figure that out too. I'll try this route as I plan on riding Sat morning. I love that lower half of the white trail.

Yeah it's a nice ride, I wasn't feeling energetic to do the full loop on Sun. The white and blue have sections that need some elephants to walk through just to get them nice and packed/worn.

I rode today cw green to blue to red to white to green. I have to agree the lower white has some nice sections on it and was much firmer today than the last time I rode it. I like the white better in the cw direction better. I have to say I like ccw better on blue and Im not sure why since it seems to be the same. Had a great day even had my niece get lost on blue somehow so she rode it 2.5times. And now shes out doing a 50mile road ride. Now thats a FIT rider. Was supposed to be a easy morning ride so she could ride harder tonight. LOL
