Pictures look great. Is this area worth riding if you have to drive? I don't live that far away but it doesn't look that large.

BTW, any plans to limit ATV impact (i.e. make the trails ATV unfriendly)? I notice from the Randolph lake beach that there's a lot of ATV activity in that area. No quicker way to destroy a trail...

Right now there are many miles of unmaintained and unmarked trails on the property. We will be working with them after we finish the connector to the beach parking lot. Definitely worth checking out if only to see the "before".

The town has a zero tolerance policy with off road vehicles caught on the property. They have recently invested in new signs and are working with the local police and surrounding town to cut down on illegal off road vehicles.

We have some Saturday TM dates coming up so feel free to come out, help and check out what we've been up to.

This looks great so far and I can't wait to get the trails ride-able... this is so close to my job. Perfect for a lunch time ride

My girlfriend and I walked this last Sunday to explore for future riding (I am off the bike for at least another month due to recent injury). We parked by the Mine Hill beach, walked a sandy woods road for a bit then hooked off climbing upwards. We followed what would be very loosely called a trail marked in red occasionally the word "Camp" with an arrow. We then found a green blazed trail, then turned upward again on a very rocky (old mining?)road ending up where an old mine pit is fenced off. We made a right then another right and followed what looked like the only single track we had seen in the entire park. That petered within a 1/2 mile. There was a lot of fresh fallen leaf cover, but except for the last part, we were not able to find any trails that seemed to match the description above. Can you tell us where we went wrong?

Since it's a trail in progress the ends are not open and it is incomplete.... that being said it is hard to follow for obvious reasons. Anyway, walk straight up the mountain from the parking area and you'll come across something. Explore and have fun because following the trail right now is kind of interesting. You may twist an ankle on the unbuilt stuff so be careful. Hope you recover soon! Keep watch on the www.Jorba.org site for updates.....

I live a few miles from here and would like to help with TM. Is there any TM going on that I don't see on the JORBA site? And approximately how many miles of trail do you think will be cut out back there?

Looks like there's a TM day this saturday at 9:00. Is that still on? I may head out there. Where do we meet and what should we bring? Is there anything rideable there yet/should i bring my bike?

You're correct, we are planning on having TM this Saturday. I believe we were planning on meeting at 8:30am and heading out to work around 9am. If this is not the case, I will post up tomorrow.

We will be meeting at the Mine Hill Beach at the end of Green Road in Mine Hill.
Google Directions

All you will need are some gloves and sturdy shoes/boots. The section we are working on at this time is not rideable at this time. There are miles of unmarked trails on the property through for anyone wanting to explore.

Check http://dickersonminepreserve.com for updates on this project.

Any news on Mine Hill?

Is there stuff that is rideable?
I went in there from canfield on the top a couple of weeks ago. there are some marked wide trails that will bring you to the bottom by either the mine hill beach or down by the route 10 side near Marty's. the beach connector trail is not done yet. from the way it looks, it will be a blast once it is done; some flowy sections and some technical spots as well. it is fun to go in and explore. There are a couple of real steep up/downs that are a challenge. The ATVs have made a lot of trails all through there.

There are actually a lot of trails to ride on the property. The problem is someone has gone spray paint crazy trying to mark trees so we are hearing of people getting turned around. Best advice is just get out there and explore. The new trail build is about 95% complete at this point.

Trails are coming out nicely. Looks like the ground is easy to work with. Hopefully i'll make it out to one of these TM days. Is anything there worth riding yet? Like could you put together a nice full loop yet?

It just looks easy! It's really very rocky but gives us a lot of options for some nice trail features. I have a 5 mile loop that I ride regularly and I'm not touching 1/2 of the property near route 46. There are a lot of cool things hidden in the woods worth checking out. Old mansion foundation, cistern, remains of the Ferromonte railroad, dickerson mine (singer shaft) right off of Canfield.

We're looking to start back up 9/12 or 9/19 since Marc and I are both travelling right now.
