Be careful out there -> bc-spinal-surgeon-warns-of-rise-in-mountain-biking-injuries

Wrestling for 10 years taught me how to tuck and roll. It’s saved me many times during my DH racing days. Even still, I have landed on my head and back, resulting in fractured vertebrae on three separate occasions. I credit strength training and flexibility toward all of my recoveries. My advice, get the absolute best helmet you can buy and strength train often.

I had a low speed, low side on my Suzuki 650 in 2017. A veteran rider. I had full armor on including kevlar. Next thing i knew i was being helicoptered to Morristown.
7 broken ribs, 9 fractured vertebrae, hole punctured just mm’ from my femoral artery.
It was awful, titanium hardware in my spine now and im lucky to be walking today.
My wife asked my to abandon it. I’ve been everywhere on a bike already. Trans America Trail, continental divide ride, and dozens more. “God gave you a second chance dont tempt fate again”
Ok i said, ill go back into MTB, thats much safer.
I quickly realized it is not. Id dare to say it may be more dangerous.
But im having a great time and became addicted.
🤦🏼‍♂️
* i might add it’s certainly not cheaper as I has thought it would be. The price tag on some of these bicycles are higher then my KTM’s !
😆
