Allamuchy

Jim, were you riding a blue GF? If so, you passed me like i was standing still on the first fire road climb, sunday morning...

Yeah, I ride a baby blue Paragon in a black Fisher kit. I was on a mission to make up time we lost overnight, we were in 4th overall at that point😀

-Jim.

I was looking over the results and well, good job everyone!!

I live in a bubble, so I don't already know... how was the weather?

I had a great time this year too. The weather was sooo nice for riding and camping. Camping next to the Jorba guys was great, and got to hang out under the disco ball most of the night. Still need to catch up on sleep, so it will be a few days before I have a race report, but here are some pix:

Saturday morning ....

Awesome race and course

I knew if I kept riding the 24hoA it would eventually be a dry race. This course was awesome. Fast, rolling and few little tricky spots thrown in to test the brakes. I saw a few folks I know from here. I saw the back of Jim Vreeland a couple of times as he blasted past me - congrats on the result Jim.

Thanks to the crew with the cowbells by the lake camp. I was the one waving like the queen of England as I went past. You guys made me feel like going out for another lap each time. If you saw the Aussie flag you saw my campsite. If you saw some crazy kids with funny wigs and masks you saw mine and my friends kids.

I did 9 laps total. I think enough for 9th in the older farts category. Man those other guys are hard core. I think the winner laid down 15, so I don't think I will ever be collecting hardware at this race. I did at least set a PR and the most laps of my campsite (ahem MixMasta...) 🙂🙂🙂

All up a great weekend. Dan that course rocked, let's do it again. Is there any word on stickers with 2008 on them?

You were the one with the Queen of England's wave? Cool. I remember you. I was the noisy guy with the cowbell most of the time. We saw your setup in Campsite 5 and we saw your kids, too. They were yelling something like "poleman" or something like that -- I'm sure there is a story behind that. Pretty funny to see them so into it.

Poleman

Poleman = not sure if you remember 2007 but there was a kid duct taped to a pole near camp 12 wearing a black curly wig and yelling at the riders on the return to the s/f. They nicknamed him poleman and this year were making video segments of him that will somehow find their way onto youtube. The kids love going to Allamuchy.

Worlds greatest mtb race never.

i got home yesterday after the rasce; wife took one look at me "you need to take a nap"

The course was simply amazingly great this year. Thanks to the Jorba crew for the cheering and cowbells. That was an energy boost every lap! Great weather, great race, great people - what more could I ask for? ..... the same course next year?

I had a stone cold blast😀 I can't say it better than it already has been. I got to hang out with a great bunch of folks and ride an excellent course (Thanks to Bob and Karen W.; Joe and Dawn, and the other volunteers for all the hard work). It was my first time @ 24HOA and it will not be my last. The fact we took 2nd in the Corperate team div. was very cool (and somewhat suprising as I was on the team😉)but, first or last place would not have made me any more or less happy with the event as a whole. I also want to thank Art W. for keeping me up and running. The pictures are up on flickr and I will link it as soon as I get a chance.

I did, but I did share the candies with the other guys from the Marriott

Here's the write from Long Island awards

What a collection of great people, its amazing.

🙂Now its time for the Mooch 08 awards🙂

The “I can bring the most stuff award”
Roy!
This guy brought more stuff then a family of four does when they go to Disney for a week.

The “I can’t believe I did the whole thing award”?
This a tie, dead heat, no question about it = JP and KT
Both these mentally challenged individuals did Solo.
JP gets it just for his sheer will power.
KT gets it; he was so sick, snot was coming out of his ears. Yet he rode on

Best Camper Award:
Windmill!
For coming up with the camping at the Marriott plan

Best Dressed Award:
Havoc!
Havoc has his team kit Dry Cleaned and then pressed between laps, it shows.

Best camp Dad:
Randy
What a great guy, has to be the best father ever.

The JP Demolition award:
The Emperor (I crushed the field)
My Totals; 2 snapped front spokes and 1 bent one, also blew out the fork, knocked the front derailleur off, snapped 1 rear spoke, and totaled out (smashed) a HID (borrowed) light system. Yep, JP himself was impressed with the carnage.

Best Cover Story:
Fly
The Captain has really nice road rash, calms he fell on the rocks. Independent sources claim Fly was wrestling Black Bears in a turf dispute (The Captain won of course)...

The Cool Running’s Award:
Greg
This guy has to be from Jamaica or something.

The True Grit award:
This was really hard to decide, so many people can get this one.
Chad
Chad had an awful time during his night lap, what could go wrong, did go wrong for the guy. Then the next time his slot came up, freaking Chad went back out there. Most people (I’m sure) wouldn’t have gone out, that showed something.

The Big Butt Eastie Award
Chauncy Broke his first Seat Post, Congrats!

The Funniest Moment Award:
JP
The Setting: Late in the race, the Solo guys are shot, most of them packed there crap and went home already.

Four man teams are ripping up the trail like Tomahawk missiles. JP’s sitting on a rock on one side of the trail, and he’s got a new buddy doing the same on the other side of the trail, JP’s holding “Court”, something deep. You have to admire that.

If you missed this one, break out a claw hammer and start wacking yourself because you missed a Dandy

Late response, sorry.......

Hardtale70- Bret, I've known you longer than practically anybody in this state. i found it surprising that you would say that the course designer "poorly picked" the course especially when in the same statement you mention that you pay "zero attention" to this event? if you pay no attention to this event how do you know what the course was or how would remember? remember, i'm also a local. i've lead many rides at the mooch and i openly admit that it's nearly impossible to make eveyone happy but surely someone with your tenure in the north side of allamuchy would be more supportive. also, what's this nonsense i hear of you riding your motorcycle in there? that's not a good idea my friend.

I'm up there all the time and I specifically checked on the course afterwards last year cause I wanted to see all the "damage" that was hyped. After looking at it I found it wasn't good trail for a rain or shine event(I could care less but the promoters have to worry about public perception of mtb)Anyway, I don't support anything that the current leadership of my local Jorba chapter or W2 or their affiliates are doing to the park, period. We don't ride moto in there anymore like just a few short years ago, but don't fall for the rewriting of history thats been going on.This entire trail system is in an undeveloped park and has been brought to you by loggers, miners, farmers and ORVS.I still love you Nelly.Long live the Allamujadin!!!
