Soil type.....you mean sand with a slight layer of organic mater on top?
Updating this strictly for educational purposes.
An inside nick does not need subsequent work within the near future of install. If setup properly it should offer years of proper function under usual cycling circumstances after installation.
These features are often found down trail in an area that features steady run off going downhill yet needs to address a bermed trail for a turn.
The berm should be elongated and mellow, offering ample walking area, with the collection hole being tampered as to not create a tripping hazard or hole to fall into. The collection hole should be determined based on the slope that is draining, soil type and type of debris that will be collecting. The berm should be built in "lifts" depending on the soil type, with ample tamping between lifts to create a firm tread for bicycle tires.
The example below is in a sandy area at Allaire on Micks Trail, therefore (
due to the sandy soil)even during the large downpours the water percolates quickly (
as a clay or organic matter pocket was not present) instead of pooling and overflowing..
Before and after photos of a properly executed example can be seen here:

That being said, the nick that was started during the previous session has been removed as it was not the proper feature for the location.
