6 Mile Run Conditions

As light and well ventilated as bike helmets are, I can't think of any reason to not wear one. On the other end of the spectrum, noticed more than a few people with moto helmets on at 6, which struck me as overkill.

Terrible news. Hope he's OK.

I was there yesterday too (morning tho) - saw the farmer was cutting down tall weeds/brush with his tractor on the trail on blue along the fields - thanks Mr. farmer - I gave him a thumbs up as I passed him.

Is there some way we could get signs put up that say "helmets required" or "no helmet, no riding" or something similar?

I was out there Wednesday morning, very early AM. Was planning to go again this morning but overslept. Will be going tomorrow morning if it's not too wet. Hope everything works out.

Yes and not too bad. It'll actually be perfect by later this afternoon and definitely this weekend. Rain always settles the dust a bit.

Any idea why this happened? I took a walk yesterday figuring I'd just trim some of the face slappers on blue. Found a number of trees snapped half off at the ground. I figured it was from wind from the storm but they all had bark stripped off of them in the same place, like it was scraped off with a knife or something. It looked too low to be from deer rubbing but others may know better on that than I do.

Looks like deer rubs to me. There's big bucks in there

It could be a deer, however it's very early to be rubbing... They start rubbing in sept/oct. If there is felt on the tree at the rub marks, then it's definitely a deer. The one looks like someone ran it over.

Looking again after this comment, I think this may be possible. Not seeing it in the others, but in the bottom pic it looks like there is a wide tread pattern just to the left of the base of the tree. Quad maybe. Or I could just be seeing things.

Also a possible similar but fainter straight line disturbance 2ft or so to the right, as though something rode directly over the tree.

Perfect conditions, but saw quite a few people without helmets. Mentioned what happened a few days ago, mentioned they should wear helmets, etc. One guy's response "Yeah, well, you know..."

No buddy, I don't know. I don't know why you want to risk your health, your life, your family, and this trail. Infuriating.
